Well that stinks!

Post by 2ndovc »

Was told this afternoon that I no longer have a job.

The construction side of the restoration outfit I worked for was shut down by the powers that be without warning.

I'm not all that upset about it, I had 75 open files and no help to get anything done. I've been sending messages out all afternoon and getting some pretty good feedback. I've been wanting to go back to being self-employed for some time. Had it with the corporate gigs.

Like Bill's recent post, it's all about the attitude. Bubbles is way more upset than I am, but I reminded her that I have "A special set of skills" to paraphrase a dumb movie and will have things worked out before Monday. In this economy ( thank you Mr. Trump) everything will be fine.

Not looking for sympathy, just needed to vent a bit.

Don’t let the door hit you in the butt. Run forward.

I hope you find a way to provide sustenance doing what you love! Man I would hate to see bubbles cry! She’s so cute.
Kind regards,
Tycer

She was more ticked off at the company than anything else. They pulled me in with a big fat salary, company truck, etc. from doing my own thing. I swore up and down that I would never take a position like that again, but the $ was huge. Lesson learned. Again. Seriously considering suing for age discrimination, discrimination against a person with a disability and anything else my attorney/ cousin/ former judge, can come up with. It's a national company with large pockets and a lot of green trucks!

Not something I would do, but I'm pretty ticked off at the way this came down since I had nothing to do with it!

Compamies nowadays treat you without any respect and expect you to give them respect. That stinks.

Jason keep smiling(it drives people with a guilty conscience crazy wondering what you are up to). Don’t let a male cow and Pelosi move by them bring you to their level.
I was self employed once but my boss was too Big a jerk to keep working for

Good luck in whatever your next move is.

Many are anxious of their job status.....There are four of us where I work who are quite aware that our jobs can be eliminated at any time with a combination of half-pay contract temps. and modern telemetry/remote-control process controls. They can keep the most senior guy and replace the other three with a modest $90,000 investment in software and routers and modems.

Sadly, it is not always apparent to those at the top that NOTHING replaces hard won knowledge and experience for making certain types of decisions.

Thanks for the support guys!

Everything happens for a reason and to be quite honest I was getting tired of being overworked and unappreciated.

I already have one large rebuild signed up and working on another. :D

 I'm glad you have an ace in the hole.
Eight years ago the Bastards showed me the door after 15 years...I was 61 and decided To Hell With It, took unemployment for a year and then SS at 62....Best decision I ever made, but I was in real good shape with very few bills and an Army pension comeing in. Many are not so lucky.

Never had a problem making $. The old man made sure I learned several trades and sent me off to college as well. Even had a phone interview today with another company. A friend of mine gave his boss my info and they gave me a call. I'd rather go the self employed route, just less stress but Bubbles likes the steady income so we'll see what happens. I'm going to get as much range time in as I can in the mean time. :D

Good luck with whatever you and Bubbles decide. Yes, it is the right thing to do when you and the one you love agree on such an important decision.
