Here's an interesting article for history or music buffs of how Steinway "Victory Verticals" Pianos were created to boost morale during WWII (click for link).
Interesting how they were made using less of some critical materials too.

I have seen films of RAF crews singing and drinking beer around a piano in English pubs during WW2.
