When I was a kid we had a neighbor that used an old self propelled REEL mower, as they call it to mow his grass. He always said it left his yard looking better. It had a grass catcher on it too. He was one of those guys that wanted his lawn to look like a golf course. I think that's the only one I've ever seen.

Powered reel mower got me remembering when we got our first. I don’t remember the brand. Ut it was green. The motor sat on top and was connected to the drive wheel by a belt. One control put tension on the belt to engage the drive and the other was a throttle.

Going from the push mower to the gas powered one was heaven. Today the thought of a kid pushing a mower much less operating a power mower would get you charged with child endangerment.

Yea! I'm with Gunny........this project has got to be the most involved of any of Pitchy's projects. And a sulky to ride behind it....I remember the old Gravely tractors from the early sixties had those sulkys.....

Lenn, if you want a nice stripped lawn the seat should be over another roller, the wheels however may give you more speed..wink:

Pitchy....you sure don't let any grass grow under your azz.... ....I'm impressed the most with this project...you visualized it all and turned it into reality. You must keep the hardware store in business with the paint you buy......looks great bro....

Sure, there gonna be a few bugs to work out such as sprocket sizes and engine rpm's but the final project is going to be a work of art.----6

I've got a spare 96" twin cam you can have to go on it. FI and air cleaner is still on it. There is a 5 speed and a nearly new primary for it too. 2010 model with 800 miles on it. Might be a mite too much power but you're sure welcome to it. Esperanza's lookin' over my shoulder and says "we gonna deliver it?" Sure is hot here. Any cooler up there?

I ran the numbers Pitchy and if I got it right 2000 RPM should give you just under 3 MPH which sounds about perfect to me. The only sketchy part is how much slippage the roller exhibits under power. It may need some cleats to get enough traction. Whatcha think?
