.405 Hornady brass

Post by marlinman93 »

If anyone is in need of some .405 Win. brass, Gary Reeder Custom Guns just got in 20,000 pcs. on a special run they had done. They are selling the brass very reasonably at $80 per bag of 100 pcs. That's the cheapest price I've seen in a long time. And since it's unobtainable now, it's also the only game in town!
I was short on .405 as I use it for several other calibers like .40-63 Ballard, and .40-70SS, so I got 200 pcs. to build up my reserve. Only took 2 days to get to me, and reasonably priced shipping too! Great guys to talk to. Limit is 500 cs. per person, and going fast!

Their phone number is here:

Thanks,but
I have a good supply as I have bought both brass, bullets, and loaded ammo from persons getting out of she .405 biz.
Included was a 20 rounds of 300 grain TSX loaded to 2200 fps.- no second shot needed with those and I still have 15 left(should be 15 more hogs, deer, or exotics). Total of 200+ empty cases too.

My only experience with Hornady 405 WIN brass was trimming and turning it to use in a 10.75x65R Collath for one of my drillings think I have 40 pieces that should last me three lifetimes no more then I shoot that thing

My loads for the .40-63 Ballard and .40-70SS are almost half of what those TSX are! I use a 315 gr. bullet at around 1250 fps. It has no problem reaching the 1,000 yd. dingers though.

This post makes sense for any guy contemplating a future purchase of a .405, 35 Win. or an unlikely 40-72.--6

If used to make .40-72 the rims will need to be turned smaller to fit the recess in the smaller rim cut of a .40-72.
