EH Central

Post by 6pt-sika »

Finally got around to taking a couple pics of the Parker Grade EH 10 gauge guns residing at my house . All be it sub par pictures but pictures none the less . From the top a circa 1904 34” , second from top a circa 1899 32” , second from the bottom a circa 1889 30” and finally on the bottom a circa 1891 28” all left the factory at these lengths . The 34” is one of less then twenty in this grade and the 28” is one of less then seventy in this grade . Now if I can get my hands on factory original EH’s in twenty four and twenty six inches !

I’ve got a pair of 10 gauge Parker’s that need some issues addressed . The first being a circa 1886 Grade 0 top lever hammer on a 4 frame with 34” barrels . The first couple inches of the rib at the muzzle are poking up . Luckily I have a guy about thirty miles away that can fix it for me . The second is a DH circa 1889 I got about the same time , someone rust blues the barrels awhile back and the same guy is gifted at refreshing damascus or twist barrels . So I’m going to get both sets to him before I leave for the PI next month . That won’t cure all the problems with these two but it’s a good start

Ran into a guy yesterday that has a GHE(?) , 12ga trap gun. The gun has been restocked to modern dimensions, re case hardened. Very nice gun but zero collector value. As we all got to BSing he mentioned his kids were not shooters& without missing a beat I said well you can leave it to me! He laughed. Little while later someone asked about it and he turned and looked at me and said he has DIBS on it.

Talk about service ! In the present state of affairs at my house it’s kinda difficult for me to get out and go places as my father is requiring constant attention . So my barrel guy sent me a text saying he’d come by and pick up both sets of barrels tommorrow

Depending on how the DH barrels come back looking he may get some more damascus and or twist barrels to bring the patterns back out !

Well he has both sets of barrels and “he says” they should be back to me before I leave 7/22/19 . He told me $200 or less to fix the rib which I thought was decent . Refinishing the DH barrels is $375 which is the going rate compared to Bachelder and Edmunds .

Well it's not another Parker EH but I did just acquire another Parker DH 10 gauge . The one I already have is on a 3 frame with 32" barrels and the DH I just acquired is on a 2 frame with 30" barrels . Cost a few schekels more as this one appears to have the original stock but that's okay .

Intrestingly both DH guns were manufactured in 1889 so they both have the early DH engraving pattern .

Got a text from the fellow who picked up two sets of barrels from me Tuesday . He has the rib re-lay done on my 4 frame hammer gun . Hopefully he can get the refinish done on my DH barrels by mid July
