Prayers please

Post by RustyJr »

If yall would keep my dad in your prayers it would be appreciated. He was involved in a single vehicle crash after having a medical issue this past Sunday while headed into work. He is off of the ventilator and talking but is in alot of pain. He suffered two fractured vertabrae and has a laceration to his lower left leg.

Thanks,
RustyJr

Yeah he has already had two concussions that I am aware of so another wouldn't be good. He had a seizure upon arrival at the hospital and bit down on his tounge pretty good. Unknown what caused the seizure as he has never had one in the 40 years he and my mom have been married. ER Doc figures he had a seizure while driving which caused the crash due to him being confused and out of it prior to having the seizure at the hospital but there is no way to know for sure since it wasnt witnessed. The wife and and just got home from visiting him at the hospital and his sense of humor still seems to be intact thankfully. He doesnt remember goin to work Sunday and CT was normal I believe. They said he shouldn't be in the TICU too much longer, just waiting on the neuro Doc to clear him and for his back brace to come in. The two vertebrae that were fractured were at T8 and L2. If I can figure out a way to post pics I may try to post some pics of his truck later. He wanted to make sure I posted on here to let everyone know. Would have done it sooner but my mom wanted me to hold of until today.

Thank you all again for the continued prayers.

Just an update on my dad, I copied this from my mom's FB post . . . An update on my husband, Rusty Frederick, he is improving but remains in ICU. We truly appreciate your thoughts, kind words and prayers. He was fitted with his back brace today and they let him sit up in bed to eat. Hopefully he will get up with physical therapy tomorrow. He is having trouble eating because of his swollen, mangled tongue. But he is still able to tell jokes.😊 The drs and nurses keep saying "he's funny". He has a whole new audience to tell his jokes to but he isn't able to sing to them yet. Thanks again for everything.

We appreciate the continued prayers. Still have a long row to hoe but things are improving.

Thanks for your prayers guys, I was discharged from ICU today. Still have a few days left to go home. I have 3 fractured vertebrae. They built me a rigid back brace.

Thanks for your prayers guys. I got home at 1830 last night. Getting discharged was an adventure to be sure. This brace thing they have for me to wear looks like a clamshell. If it were read, white and blue I'd look like CAPTAIN AMERICA! I'm ready to be done with this.
It looks there there are no heavy recoiling rifles in my future.

Rusty, you need to heal first. Get plenty of Vitamin D and Calcium Citrate. Do not get the Calcium Carbonate pills. They are not as easily absorbed and put in the bones. Alendronate would help if your Doctor would prescribe it. Magnesium oxide 400 mg and zinc will help regrow the bones.

Thanks Piller, I'll get on that tomorrow. The wife is going to town in the morning. They say I have 6 weeks to wear this rigid back brace. I'm still feeling some effects from the head injury. Having to walk with a walker for a while longer.

I had to wear my neck brace for 6 weeks too.
Still very sore. neck, back, left ankle and right arm.
Had another mri yesterday. Hopefully start PT next week. When do yo get to go to physical therapy?
I have to go to court tomorrow to testify against the person who ran into me...

It happened in my own truck on the way to work. I'm glad it didn't happen in the big truck.

The PT people are coming to the house twice a week.
