If your talking about just the cylinder drop in conversion mine works perfect right out of the box, i removed the loading lever on mine.

I see they have an ejector rod assembly.

I've had one since they first started making them. I did have to fine tune the hand just a little but it was pretty much a drop in fit other than that. You have to watch the length on colt ammo the cylinder is a little short but scofield cased ammo is no problem and is probably done on purpose to keep hot 45 colt shells from fitting. The ejector is really neat made so the plug just fits in the loading lever channel and holds a Allen screw in a piece on the ejector housing (but looks like a colt Mason style). You do have to mill out the guns recoil shield to load on the gun though but it's pretty simple just a dremel tool and some cold blue. I think Pitchy has the R&D cylinder where it has the firing pin on every chamber. Both conversions are neat and a lot of fun to shoot just remember light cowboy loads are what there made for. Hope this helps

I have one too. It's the Kirst with loading gate and I opened the loading channel up, not with a dremel as suggested but on the mill in about 20 minutes instead of taking all afternoon. I bought the ejector too and removed the rammer. Makes a great natural pointing pistol. Of course I use black powder which is what it was designed for. I really like it.

Thanks fellows for the replies. I see you have to modify the frame. Not sure I want to do that. Have to look at it and think it over.

I have another Pietta .45 from Heritage which I like.

I`ve wanted a factory modern conversion for a long time but just can`t seem to get my hands on one, going to a gun store and getting one seems to be more hassle than its worth anymore.
Go here and look in the Storm thread and read all about them.

All this is very helpful. Alas, I don't have the confidence I could do a job I would be happy with relieving the loading gate area.

Still tempted to get a Dremel and try but I have a Pietta 1860 Army that is great in fit, finish and function. My Great Grand Father fought for the North in the Civil War, have a picture of him with s Springfield. Thought he might have wanted an 1860 so I bought one. Shot it with BP,,fun but I like more convenience. Bit of an expensive project everything considered and I have an Old Army that came with a List. But, you know we all like to chase our ideas.

I did get to handle an original first year production Colt 1860.
