First Focal Plane Scopes....

....are now getting semi-affordable.

I haven't ever wanted to plunk down the bucks for one, and am not doing the kind of shooting that would really benefit from one, but if the prices keep dropping I might try one some day.

We sell Athlon at the shop . To be honest I don’t like their profile I prefer the looks of the older Leupold . However I have three of the Athlons and two more on order . All of mine or the two cheaper grades . I have a Neos 4-12 on my Ruger #1H 416 REM Mag . I was sure that Ruger would trash that scope but it didn’t and I’ve shot some very good groups with the 416 using that inexpensive Athlon scope .

I picked up a 1.5-6X Hensolt-Wetzlar "Diavari" (German) variable scope with FFP reticle for my Drilling...

It is a decent image at 1.5X -- and gets downright HUGE at 6X!

But it matches the style (though not the vintage) of the pre-war arm, and I can see how it would be helpful at dusk or dawn.

If I get the old girl shooting well, maybe I'll find out next fall.
