Colt 1860 Army -- Firing pictures
Hey, there's a loading LEVER on this gun...
My nephew lost his Dad (my BIL) back in May and as he's taken an interest in shooting, I've taken him out several times since then. First with 22s and much time spent on safety and care/maintenance, then with 9mms and Magnums, and the other day, he wanted to try his hand at blackpowder with a "Civil War handgun". So my repro Colt 1860 Army (by Uberti) worked well for that.
I figured the gang here would enjoy these firing pictures, as he was very eager to show these to his friends. The use of "live photo" on an iPhone made these possible, as I could edit the string of images and then just select the one I wanted to keep.
He did all the shooting and I got stuck with the cleaning that evening -- but it was all for a great cause. And I will plan to get him an NRA Membership for his upcoming birthday.
Tight groups!

Good job, Ol' 7, another one added to the ranks. Now, for a nice educational session on how to clean a BP revolver.

Awesome job, No7! There is nothing better than bringing another shooter into the world. Good for you, buddy.

Love the Model 1860s. Good to see a smile on that young man's face.

Re: Colt 1860 Army -- Firing pictures
The most elegant firearm ever designed.
Re: Colt 1860 Army -- Firing pictures
I somewhat agree...
But the sweet l'il 1862 Pocket Police prevents me from fully committing to only the 1860...
So that's why I have one of each! And an 1861 Navy too... But it's nice to have a choice!
Although some would say I chose the wrong uniform color............

Daryl, those three Colts are indeed the most beautiful revolvers ever made.

Re: Colt 1860 Army -- Firing pictures
Back in the good old days when Brits could have handguns I used to get guys at the range asking if they could shoot my cap n ball revolvers.

Now you've gone and done it. First, he should be hooked for life. Second, now I'm getting the itch to take out a few members of the sorority for a range date!

Yes Jay, he did say "some day soon" he wants to get a blackpowder handgun.Ysabel Kid wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 7:04 pm Now you've gone and done it. First, he should be hooked for life. Second, now I'm getting the itch to take out a few members of the sorority for a range date!
I just signed him up for a 2-Year NRA Membership too -- and he really appreciated that.
And I'll kick his a** if he keeps shooting and doesn't re-up it...

Re: Colt 1860 Army -- Firing pictures
BTW, several of the last BP C&B revolvers I've acquired I purchased through GunBroker. Just waited for the right deal to come along, as I was in no rush. He can probably find a very respectable 1860 for under 2 C-notes if he is patient!
