My favorite deer rifle is a handgun. A custom built Ruger by Bowen Classic Arms in .41 Magnum. Not only is it built extremely well, it is probably The Most Accurate handgun I have ever owned. It began life as a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum. By the time it was sent to Bowen it was well used and needed TLC. There is a longer story behind this gun that makes it one of my most cherished but that is written about elsewhere.
When I got the gun it was still in SBH configuration. I had Milt Morrison (Qualite Pistol and Revolver) change it to the Bisley gripframe, hammer etc. Later I had Gary Reeder (Reeder Custom Guns) install his "set back" trigger. The grips are Paul Persinger and are hand checkered Ebony.
A couple years ago I was invited to hunt with my friend Gary Reeder. On that hunt I used the .41 and took a cow Elk and a hog with it. The load used was the 210 gr. XTP bullet over 20 gr. of WC820 (military surplus H110). The elk was taken at about 90 yards. The bullet entered the left side behind the shoulder and stopped under the hide on the right side. The hog was taken at 3 or 4 feet.
I don't shoot a lot of cast bullets in this gun. It really shines with the 210 gr. jacketed bullets. But I do like the NEI 230 gr. flat nose bullet. It seems pretty accurate.

That's awesome Jim.
I am so peived we don't have this freedom because I would be the first to do so if we could!
That charge of 2400 seems quite efficient compared to how much I recall I was dropping in a 357 case!
Any velocity figures?

No sir. I never clocked them. Compared with known loads I figured they are around 1200 fps.

Good looking pistol. I wouldn't be averse to using something like that if the opportunity presented itself.
