Starline Brass
For anyone with a .348 Win or a .375 I just saw that Starline is going to start making brass for these two rounds. The information came from THE SHOOTING WIRE.

Thanks Rusty. Anybody want to split some? Don’t need 250 but 50-75 might make me smile.

Re: Starline Brass
Why would you do that, when you can get proper length 38-55?
Ok, if I get a 250 bag, will you take 100 of 'em?

Re: Starline Brass
Griff,
Two reasons.
I have three original 38-55 rifles. As you probably know, most original rifles have .379 or larger bores. It's very hard to find an original 38-55 rifle that will easily chamber a loaded round with .379 bullets using full length brass. With smaller bullets, accuracy goes to hell and bullets tumble. It's common for guys to have the chamber opened up a hair. The part of the chamber that is tight is most always the last 1/8" - 1/4"..l.(case mouth). To remedy this issue, an owner of an original rifle has two choices....as previously said, to open the chamber or do what I do and I discovered this myself...........I use reformed 30-30 brass which comes up a bit short. Forget inside neck reaming.....sometimes it works with a marginal chamber but it's a hassle and case life is short.
What I do is seat the bullet to correct overall length and because the brass is short, the chamber will accept a .379 or .380 bullet.
.375 brass is shorter and most always works just fine. The second reason is .......well, I don't know for sure but Paco Kelly says 375 brass is stronger by being thicker....I take his word for it. So...if it's stronger and chambers...it's for me!---6
Edit.....I'm having second thoughts....if I've been getting away with 30-30 brass for over 40 years, I might as well stay with it.

Re: Starline Brass
Got it. I'm actually going to Sedalia tomorrow and will pick this up at the plant. I'll see if I can wrangle a tour... Since I gotta pay sales tax, & they don't have to cover shipping maybe I can get them to mail yours directly to ya. Merry Christmas. Thank Sixgun, he sent me a bunch of 32-40 brass awhile back!

Re: Starline Brass
I really wish they would do 32W.S. brass.
I know, I know, you can size 30-30. Problem is, I have a bunch of each chambering and so does my dad.
The 32 brass is getting tougher to find new.
I suppose I could use Starline 30-30 for 32. None if my 30-30 is Starline so it would be a little easier to tell.
Maybe I'm just OCD.

"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

Re: Starline Brass
Picked up the brass, and no, I couldn't talk them into shipping your hundred directly... But, on the lighter note, I picked up 5 lbs of Sierra's 200FP for the 375 Win! Counted out your hundred, and put 'em in a box... I'll get around to mailin' 'em... sooner or later! Either if I pass a Post Office I can park @, or when I get home next week.fordwannabe wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 12:19 pmThen I will do the same when presented with an opportunity. Thank you again.
Sierra no longer gives factory tours, and Starline only does on Mon., Wed., & Fri.! I asked the receptionist, that if I came back tomorrow, would the sign say "Tours only on Tues. & Thurs."?
I didn't take my camera into the "company store", but, like it was in CA... they had those 25 gal steel barrels just shock full of bulk bullets in just about every size you could want! And for these, @ about 35 per lb... the $10.56/lb seemed like a bargain! (It most certainly was)! I shoulda parted with more cash!!
