A different I thought I was done
I got home from my Colorado hunting trip on Sunday (I got a mulie, but only saw a cow and calf elk) recovered most of Monday and Tuesday. Last night Mrs fordwannabe says let’s go for a ride.
But, you have to work in the emergency room tonight.
It’s ok let’s go for a ride.
Ok.
We ride about a half hour when she starts giving me directions. Being a trained investigator I can tell something is up but not sure what.
We pull up at a nice house and I hear yelping!
In a huge fenced area is...:a nine week old yellow lab puppy now named Ruger!
She doesn’t surprise me often but boy oh boy did she get me yesterday. Pictures to follow. I have had a smile since I saw him. We now have 5 year old chocolate named Winchester, 1 and a half year old dobie Marlin, and a yellow fur ball Ruger.
I am a happy man. Scared but happy.

Way Cool!! Just made my day, nothing better than a puppy. Especially a lab puppy!!
I want another Great Dane, and so does everyone else in the house but we have four dogs now. Just too much work for everyone, especially my little buddy that does most of the feeding and cleaning up after them.
Have fun with the little guy!!

That's cool Tom......after Ruger you will need more, like Ruger O.M., Ruger Flattop, ........keep on going and use all of the models of Winchesters. "Here 1886, come get your food". "1873, what are you doing?" "Flattop, I told you to get off the bed!"

Re: A different I thought I was done
Well Gunny....beings that the 218 is gone..well, almost...how about a 219? Yep, got a 99% example here. Shoots easy moa with the short stubby 20" barrel. One of 3,000 made in the late fifties. I had two others, shot one to death..it only took about 1500 rounds to burn out the shallow micro groove rifling and the other went ??? can't remember....ooooo now I remember...I traded it straight up for a 99.9% Savage 99 in 358....still have it. I had it listed here for some time and everybody wanted a deal on it...yea, right.
Nope, I'm keeping that one. I'm running low on tomato stakes around here or possibly rebar for a future concrete project.---6

Re: A different I thought I was done
One thing about Gunbroker....you don't know the hidden secrets of a potentially messed up gun. You don't know 100% if it's going to arrive in the same condition as when you saw it on Gunbroker.....you don't know 100% if your even going to get the rifle after sending your money. Eliminate the anxiety.....buy from Sixgun.....if and when's he is ready to sell. ...you might need patience counseling. ----6

Discount? Absolutely! Tom will get a screaming deal as I know with Tom, it's going to a good home.
I always give discounts to my buds and for that matter, just about everyone here. I have a simple policy, discounts can range from .0000000000000001 % to ................1 % under going price. Everyone fall somewhere between those numbers. -----6

218 dies- check
218 brass- check
218 Ruger #1- check
I ain't got the dies & brass for 219...
I have a 17 rem, 223 and 22-250 so my large case varmint guns are covered. Guess I'll have to settle on my hornet and my #1 in small case vermin blasters.

Re: A different I thought I was done
Relax Gunny...with the Zipper gun, dies, loaded ammo, brass and even a $ 2-300 set of rcbs case forming dies come with the gun. (Can't remember what they cost or even if they are still available, but I do know I paid $100 for the case forming dies, back in 1976) it's a 99% gun with maybe 200 rds out of it. Guaranteed to be moa. It even has a 3-9 leupold.....it's all like new.

Re: A different I thought I was done
Six, you sound like you are trying to get interest in your rifle. Why? Nobody wants or shoots those obsolete calibers anymore. It probably would be better off melted down to scrap and turned into a Prius.
On a serious note, I would love to shoot a bunch of those obsolete calibers. There is just something intangible but real about the sensation of knowing you are hitting your target with a caliber that still gets the job done even after all of the years when faster and louder rounds have taken over. Sort of like riding a Harley for 30 or 40 years while watching some kid ride and wear out a Japanese motorcycle in less than 10 years. The newer type of motorcycle is faster and can be louder, but the Harley still gets the job done for a lot longer with a comparatively mild temperament.

Re: A different I thought I was done
I hear ya Piller.....even when I was 18...1972.....I started reading about all of these old weird calibers..40-72....45-90....40-65...on and on...I was mesmerized and the first gun show I went to.....they were REAL gunshows back then.....the old timers used to sell single specimens of cartridges and I bought a mess of them...took them home and fondled them like they were ...well, you know....the other guys were fondling "those" things and I was fondling old cartridges....yea...I was a geek before the term came out.
Have been seriously addicted since then and no pelosi, I gained considerable experience loading these old ones, making bullets,cases...there were NO cases then.....completely self taught...there was no one to talk to, no internet, just reading old manuals, etc. Cartridges of the World was read over and over again.
I wanted to hunt with them to "see what they would do" , thinking in my naive mind that these bullets were magic. As a blue collar worker money was tight but I was determined to get the old guns so I bought junkers, cleaned them up and sold them making a meager profit that I reinvested. Talked to anyone that would listen, bought every book and studied, studied, studied. Went to work, dealt with the aggravation, raised my family and studied and studied. Bought when I could and now it's time to pass them on as we are all just temporary custodians of all of this industrial revolution art.
Ya never learn it all and that's what makes it continually interesting.
I have been blessed with being in the best part of the country for obtaining these guns. Plenty of old money around here and people used these guns for once a year hunting, unlike the westerners who used them as tools and thus, these people around here must have been thinking of a long haired hippie wanting their guns someday so they took good care of them...for ME.
The cowboy craze started and everybody wanted the old guns and I had em. The timing was perfect..I bought low and plan on selling high. So.....that means if these buddies of mine want that 219 Zipper, they had better start coughing up the bucks.
Yea, Fordwannabe is a potential candidate for carrying on the costodianship....(is that a word?)---6

Good looking pup- yes the growing pup, all gangly legs. Tripping over their own feet- what fun!
Parker has stopped growning " up" and is now getting longer. Seems like yesterday she was just a newborn.
I need a puppy fix! Friend has a litter due end of March guess I gotta wait...
