I have a thing for Remington Rolling Blocks, I have had a couple in .32 rimfire but with ammo being what it is, or in this case isn't, I sold it. I have a #1 Spanish rifle in .43 Spanish but that gun is a little heavy and recoil is a bit brisk, my son who just turned nine loved it, but obviously it's way too much gun for him.
Recently I located a #4 Rolling Block in .22 LR for only $150 so I immediately snagged it. It needed some work, mostly the mainspring and other springs needed to be replaced, but it was functional. The bore is excellent and my son, who got a Savage Model 30G (last incarnation of the Stevens Favorite .22 LR) for his first rifle, loves this gun too. We took it to the range recently and he liked it as much as I do. Hoping to get him out to the range again with it now that all the springs have been replaced.
I can tell you that I plan on taking this gun out squirrel hunting this winter.
Good. I hope you and your son can make a bunch of happy memories with those guns.

That boy of yours will be a gun guy for life with that smile he has. Ya done right.
I had one of those Remington's a while back that was a 98% gun and it would spit gas from the case with every shot with target grade velocity ammo. Every case would split just ahead of the rim and spit the gas right there n my face..----6

Good job! The younger you start your children, the more good times shooting you get to share.
Is that you Jay? You look like Prince Harry.---6
Haha thanks bud.
A friend had a roller like that. It looked unfired and was just beautiful. I had a few Stevens's for my son in the above pic. Still got em, but the kid don't look like that anymore. Now he has a kid. We talk guns most every day. He is a terror with most any kind if shootin iron.
You will soon realize that this is time well spent. I miss those days.
