We refer to them as shuffle guns- nothing wrong with taking your shuffle gun out for a shuffle through the woods!
Nice rifle!
I have a bunch of parts for Rem model 12, I should see about finding our what I need to complete one of them.

I love slide actions too.I have a nice remington 121 that is scary accurate and it is one of my favorite 22s.I was hoping years back when browning was remaking some of the old browning designed winchesters that they brought back the winchester 1890 .I would stand in line for a new made 1890 .

That's sharp. Funny thing, I was just looking at Winchester Model 61s on Gunbroker yesterday. My grandfather had a two barreled set, one was a smoothbore for shot shells. We were out for a visit years ago when he announced to my dad and I that he got $800 for it at a show. Didn't have the heart to tell him that it was worth many times that number. I did manage to get him to agree not to sell anything else before he asked me about it.

The early American made pump/slide action .22 rifles had many similarities. Below is pic of grandson learning to shoot the M61 that I bought when a teenage; my first rifle:

Thanks again, for the kind words, folks !

I've had a .22 Short Remington Model 12B Gallery Special, a LR Savage Model 29, and a Browning BPR-22, but eventually sold them, keeping this Marlin.

I once had a chance to buy a pristine .22Mag Winchester 61 (around 1970), but the dealer wanted $600 more than I had at the time (fairly new wife, two fairly new kids & a chump job) - so I had to pass.

Like knives and handguns that have antler/stag handles....there's just something about a .22 pump. In my opinion, a .22 pump from the old days has more pizzazz than a levergun in .22. I like them almost as much as a quality single shot. :D ---6
