Marlin 338

Post by Marlin32 »

Going to shoot some prairie chickens tomorrow, but first, going to start sighting in my Marlin 338.
Right now it is sighted for the Remington 250's, the Hornady 200 grain FTX shoots much higher!
I am going to use the ftx on antelope, so need to get it squared away. Running out of time, teal season is on, Prairie chickens, squirrels, fall turkey, hard to get all of it in.

I now wish I had tried one or both of the 338 Express I had with the cast bullet Ranch Dog came up with !

If I'm not mistaken I sent him a chamber cast from one of the rifles I had for him to use when he designed that mold . I had both the ones I had before he ever ordered one . I think he told me a few fellows were after him right after those rifles hit the market to design a mold !
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

Darn FTX's shoot high!! Had to crank her down quite a bit, and still might need a smidge.
Didn't "one hole" the shots, but each pair was touching except last two, and you couldn't fit a bullet hole between them. Rifle is a shooter.

Next will have her dialed in to a gnat's behind. Probably shoot antelope at 50yds, oh well, better prepared than not. I would hunt that rifle today if I had too, but like to be a bit more exact.

No chickens either, but we got a late start, NU vs Miami last night, kind of made it a late morning.

Gemsbuck- awesome! Gotta be the #2 animal I'd like to shoot. Eland is tops for me.
