Got my henry 410 carbine
Recieved my Henry 410 lever action carbine the other day and I must say I am more than pleased with it.The lever 410 is based on theirHenry 45/70 rifle the difference being there is no half cock on the 410 as it uses a transfer bar system.The gun has a nice and solid feel much better than the win9410 I use to as the action on the winchester always felt a bit on the flimsy side.My main use for the gun will be for snowshoe hare and the shots are normally on the close side as the brush tends to be thick so the carbine should be about perfect for this type of hunting.My gun also came with the 3 shot mag tube and the best part is I got a great deal on it paying less than half price for the gun which was basically new as the guy I bought it from only fired it a couple of times then sold it to finance a had to have gun.

Cool, I keep looking at those. I've had a Marlin, Winchester and one of the Rossi .410 and while they all worked fine I just didn't warmed up to them. What I like about the Henry is the loading tube. It's got to be a whole lot easier to load than the traditional side loaders.
Have fun!

Cool! Hope it gives you a lot of years of enjoyment. I am not anything to brag about with a shotgun, but for what you plan on doing, that gun sounds close to perfect.

Those are 2.5" shells only, right? Do they have enough punch for what you expect to do with it?
I have a little H&R single shot, and with the 3"-ers it's not too bad.

The biggest difference in the 3 inch vs the 2 1/2 inch .410 bore is the weight of shot. At close range, such as 10 yards or less, it should be enough for rabbit and hare. Just think "hasenpfeffer".

The 410 is not looked upon seriously. It is very effective on everything. Biggest thing is normally 410s ste over choked. That long narrow shot column is better from open chokes IMO.
1/2 oz of #4 will do bunnies just fine.
Heck I shoot 1/2 oz of 7 &1/2's for pheasants, might not stone them but that's what the dog is for!

I always thought the .410 was seriously underrated. When my Model 12 / 20 ga. got too easy I started rabbit hunting with a single shot .410 b.
Here's my two favorites, both converted to 3" shells;

Those look like fun, but the handle is on the wrong side for me. Re: Got my henry 410 carbine
Ishapore did the single shot conversion in the Brit. .410 which was a .303 case cut off at the shoulder and loaded with a round ball.
I bought these at Springfield Sporters in PA many years ago, back when it was a killer place to go. They converted them to 3" .410s .
We spent a ton of $ there on our outings, so much so that they would just open up the storage barns and let us dig through all the goodies as long as we wanted. Things changed when the Old Man retired and his son took over. I could go on and on, but it doesn't really matter anymore.

2 1/2" = 1/2 oz. @ 1245 fps.
3" = 3/4 oz. @ 1100 fps.
2 1/2" Skeet = 1/2 oz. @ 1300 fps.
All gauges throw shot the same distance at the same velocity.

Re: Got my henry 410 carbine
Just a smaller amount of shot. Besides, for rabbit and pheasant, I have seen them fall to just 1 or 2 pieces of shot if they happen to be in a lethal spot. Catching them at the edge of the pattern has occasionally happened. It is not ideal, but it happens.
