I've found the old saying, "I don't know which end is the handle?" to keep me out of a lot of hard work over the years Bill!

I actually like using a shovel. Growing up an a ranch that was homesteaded pre-depression I was taught and knew most of the information in that link. I still have some of those shovels and it's astonishing the difference in quality in those old shovels compared to what you have to pick from now days in the big box stores.

Like HawkCreek, I knew most of that. I'm Italian and coming from an Italian family one of the duties of the youngest was to "spade the garden". We had all kinds of different shovels.....I still do as I married an Italian whose hobbies is horses and I've shoveled my share of pelosi. Then there's a shovel that looks like a pitchfork but the tongs are straight and heavy.

You wanna talk pitchforks? rakes? hoes? (The hoes for gardening) :D , post hole bars.....post hole digger......edgers.....mattocks.....picks.....fence pliers......fence stretcher.....on and on......I had a lifetime of this pelosi. Let's stick with guns. :D ----6

I like your mentality!!!!!!!! :) I went to the doctors for bad knees. doc say i haven't had a tetanus shot in a long time. I say ok, whatever. i hate needles. :x SO, the nurse comes in and asks which arm do I prefer? I looked her straight in the face and replied " In yours!", My wife busted out laughfi n. I don't think the nurse liked my sense of humour.
