Stags for the Colt
Got a set of stags today I'd been waiting on. I figured I have em on the SAA.......may as well have em on the LW Commander too.

Re: Stags for the Colt
Thanks bud. I went with the smoother finish. Wouldn't snag on clothes or peel my hide with recoil. They feel really nice. The ones on my SAA are real pretty, but they are very rough and can be painful in the cold.

Re: Stags for the Colt
Nice looking grips, I have stags on my Colt .45 SAA. They were on it when I bought the gun, can't do pictures anymore but I have an early 1970 Puma Bowie knife that is a perfect match to my Colt. Maybe I could send a picture to somebody to put on the forum.

Re: Stags for the Colt
Here's a pair of my Colts. 2nd gen with the old ivory, 3rd from the custom shop. Both 44-40 and were my main match guns most of the time when I was able to shoot a lot. The old ivory is Walrus and the other is Elephant both on full blue guns, no case colors. 3rd gen is from '72 I think and the 2nd is 1961. The 2nd gen was a 125th Anniversary Commemorative which I re-barreled.

Re: Stags for the Colt
OK, here's my favorite set of stags:
Old Bisley in .41 Colt. I may ask to be buried with it. It had Christy barrel and cylinder in .44 Special when I got it but it came with the originals so I put them back on and acquired the mould and dies to load for it. I just love shooting it.

Re: Stags for the Colt
That Boy is a good grandson, that's the Colt that I bought in 1959 It had 12 rounds fired through it. The 12 empty cases were in the box with the sales receipt and the Colt papers. I started reloading for it in 1960,still using the C&H C press and dies. I have put a few rounds through that gun. For a long time it was my only carry piece.
Thanks Paul for the offer, reckon I will send you one sometimes. One day I'll get one of the new sites set up to use.
