The Nichols Stallion 45
Got the Nichols 45 today, put the Mattels to shame really well built and have screws so ya take it apart.
Come with 6 two piece bullets, ya put the cap on the tail end of the bullet then the case over it, the bullet has a hole through it so the smoke comes out the barrel.
Finding caps that will work is of coarse the problem, I`m going to try cutting some circles from roll caps.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
The Rolls Royce of cap guns! I sent mine off for repair and restoration a couple of months ago and also ordered 6 new bullets for it. They are slightly larger than an actual Colt SSA, quite a handful for a 6 year old.

Those are so cool, I remember a lad down the road had one, boy was I envious......
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
Yep OS, that`s the same recoil I`m getting, going to have to find some lighter loaded caps.
Thanks fellars, it`s a neat gun alright.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
A factory fault on the MK 1 guns is the loading gate won`t stay shut and flops open, I figured out a fix on mine this morning by putting a spring on the end of the shaft that pushes outward and creates friction on the gate.
Seems to work good, these are real easy to work on nothing fly's apart when ya disassemble it.
Only try at your own risk.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
Pitchy thanks for the tip on the loading gate. I'll try to remember it though I haven't had any problems there (yet).

Better toys than the electronic things of today. A little imagination required makes it better.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
Thanks guys.
Hawkeye, it was only a problem on the early MK 1 models, on the later MK 2 they added a flat spring that fixed the issue.
Mine fell all apart yesterday, first the cyl. quit turning, then the trigger spring broke, then the tip of the hammer broke off
So now I have parts on order but should work like new when done.

I had no idea about these. Never heard of them until now. It's a cult that's surely going strong.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
Those Stallions are quality stuff. Never had anything that nice. No gunbelts either.
On the other hand, my dad bought me my first BB gun when I was 3. He made a trap for me in the cellar and tought me to shoot. Few years later, he stitched me a holster for my CO2 pistol.

I'm surprised at the number that do survive, perhaps sheer volume had a lot to do with it. I fired every one of mine till they were worn out or failed mechanically and I can't even begin to tell you how many that was but I'm sure I was a major supporter of the industry. With my childhood background I'm also sure no liberal will believe this but I have never had a desire to shoot anyone or near them or use a firearm aggressively.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
Pitchy I actually sent mine there for repair, should be on it's way back to me now. I'll post when I get it back and I also ordered 6 of his new bullets too. I'm not sure of they are repros or new but at 6 for $10 when he's doing the repair it's a great price.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
That is super nice bud! I showed these to my old man to see if he'd heard of them or was under the same rock I was.
"Oh yeah!", he says. " I bought one for my brother one time."
I just looked at him like, WTH? You couldn't buy ME one?

Thanks Jay, Hawkeye did you get your 45 back?
Newest addition to the Nichols collection, the stallion 38 they're about 1/3rd the size of the 45.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
Some very nice cap guns here .... nicer than anything I saw or heard of when I was a kid. We had cap guns, but not as nice as these Nichols kind.

Re: The Nichols Stallion 45
A cousin of mine as an only child had a set with leather holsters and all. I didn't mind at all, my dad bought me a new Stevens 20 gauge single shot when I was in the third grade.
