Rim Rock Bullets

Post by clubkey »

Has anyone had any experience, good/bad with this brand of cast bullets?

Never heard of them. Got a link?

Here's the link.

http://www.rimrockbullets.net/catalog/

Don't know if this is still the same outfit/owner, but the local sporting goods store used to carry Rimrock bullets. I have used the 357 SWC plain base, and the 405 gr 45-70 (single lube grove) and they worked just fine. No better or worse than most of the bulk/machine cast bullets available commercially. I've never used their Gas Check bullets.

At the prices listed on their website, I'd be inclined to (and do use) use

Mastercast

http://www.rimrockbullets.net/catalog/ or

Montana Bullet Works

http://montanabulletworks.com/

Mike at Mastercast, and Dave & Marcie at Montana Bullet Works are great folks, make top notch products, great selection and have excellent servce. Depending upon your particular application, you should be able to find something that works for you at either Matercast or Montana Bullet Works.

Mike at Mastercast has some bullets/diameters not cataloged on his website, so email him if you don't see what you need. Prices on his website aren't current, so you'll have to call or email for current info. Just ordered some 158gr SWC .357s and they were $54.17 per 1,000 and shipping was USPS flat rate.

Paul,

Thank you for your reply and suggestions. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to answer my question and I don't mean to sound argumentative, but I have looked around on the Internet before posing this question.

Actually as a sponsor of Leverguns I went to the Montana Bullet web site first and was really impressed with all their different .358 dia. bullet designs, some of which I would really like to give a try in my guns. However, Montana's average price for 500 cast bullets is considerably higher than what Midway is charging for 500 JHP bullets (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.e ... mid=223097). Price alone isn't the biggest deterrent in my ordering from Montana though. Most all other manufacturers have an uncomplicated shopping cart method of ordering, but IMHO Montana without the shopping cart ordering method makes the ordering process a little too complicated and If I'm not mistaken and I actually hope I am, I also read somewhere on their site that they have a two week delay from ordering to shipment. I'm sure that the folks at Montana Bullet are great people and may have a very sound reason for their way of doing business, but If it weren't for those three facts I wouldn't be posing this question because I would have already ordered 500 cast bullets from them.

Montana Bullet Works are easy to deal with, plus you can get oversized bullets from them that Midway doesn't carry.

Email them with a model and quantity and they'll send you a link to Paypal usually by the next day.

I'm willing to take a little extra time to get a quality product that will make my rifle shoot better. My time free time is precious and I do not want to waste time fooling around with inferior products.

IME, they get my bullets made quickly and out the door. Usually receive my bullets within a week of ordering. Never had any problems.

rimrock uses taracorp mag lead mix and magma engineering lube
and their equipment also.
so you are getting the same commercial from him as anybody else.
i have some of his old equipment, and almost bought his whole business
a few years ago, dumb banks,

but he sells about what everybody else does, meister, hunters run etc...

Deerwhacker444,

So, then you've had experience with Rim Rock bullets being of inferior design or materials? Would you please go into a little more detail because this is exactly why I started this thread?
