1919 model 94 range report
Took the old 1919 Win 94 3030 out for a few shots, the top four are at 100 yards bottom four at 50.
Both shot high so I`m thinking the guy that owned this gun originally sighted it in for 150 or so as it has a filed down buckhorn sight on it set at the lowest setting.
A few years ago I posted about this gun and shot two 175 yard groups that measured 1 1/4 inch groups but the old eyes are failing so this is what we have now.

Good shootin ole buddy!
As you no doubt know, the short mags shoot best.
Nice old 94, Pitchy!

Re: 1919 model 94 range report
Thanks buddy, I`m certain that if shot off a good rest it would be impressive.
What I think is wonderful is the pride the original owner must of had in this rifle, it had to be special ordered with the half round half octagon barrel then made into a button mag.
I f that rifle could talk about the deer its shot and the miles carried.

Its part of the charm of old guns.

Pitchy,
Model 94's in that configuration are rarely seen. That's real gem, so, to put it bluntly, can I have it? Have you tried cast gas checked bullets? You can shoot that baby until the cows come home for pennies...you need some, let me know.---6
(I'm just trying to beat that "old Win." guy...you gotta watch him...turn your back and that gun will be gone.)

Re: 1919 model 94 range report
Ya know old bud that means a lot, I`m slowly dying and decided I`m not going to the doc the heck with it.
It`s so sweet when someone cares I`ve had so little of that around me.
Cheers bro.
A little rant about the VA,
A year ago last April I got pneumonia and had to call 911 and go to the ER, was bad.
Two months later I needed to get a check up so called the VA clinic for a appointment and was given a date of 30 days later.
30 days later they called and said I was rescheduled for 30 days later, this happened three times, then I went to my VA rep and tried to change counties for my provider, he called them and left a message for them to call me which they never did.
So here I sit not being able to see a doctor, my lungs hurt and great pain in the middle of my back and blood pressure has been up to 170 over 111.
Phuck it all, been a heck of a life though can`t complain.

Nice gun/nice work, Pitchy !
I'm sorry about your VA experience, as I haven't had any such here in RI.
Why not try your Senator or Representative in Washington ? - they might want a bite of the VA.

And don't you listen to that Sixgun feller! I ain't a gonna snake that sweet 94'.........the Shovelhead.......or even that beautiful 44 Colt. I may covet a little, but that's it.
And I'm kinda hurt, Jack ole buddy. I coulda loaded my truck down there last spring, but no way. I even had to push a little more cash on him!

Re: 1919 model 94 range report
That's an absolute beauty of a 94 Pitchy, I love those crescent butt plates way better than the squishy pads they put on the later 94s.
More meplat, more better.
Re: 1919 model 94 range report
Yeh...The Veterans Administration...I spent most of yesterday at the OKC VA. I was the official driver for a friend of mine. They did change our scheculed appointment time from early morning to straight-up noon...then called us while in transit at about 10:30am to wonder where we were...
I will say that the OKC Vet hospital has vastly improved over what it once was...and that really leave little to complain about for as busy as they are.
Model 1894 rifles!!...I actually looked at one that was/is on consignment at a nearby store. This one a standard octagon barreled full mag-tube .30WCF sporting rifle. Looked to be perfectly functional with a decent bore. I just have not convinced myself to go back and inspect it better...maybe buy it.
I'm torn between it and a Model 1895 .30-40 rifle with a really long barrel!...

Re: 1919 model 94 range report
Pitchy, that is some really good shootin' with a great rifle. Did it come with the button mag or was it cut back at some point? I have an old SRC '94 in 25-35 that had the magazine cut back to only hold 4 and one in the chamber. It shot fabulously but I put a full length magazine and the barrel band on it and it started shootin' more like a shotgun so I put the short magazine back on it and the small groups came right back. Of all the guns I own, it's my favorite except there is that 1894 SAA in 44-40.
These Grandkids we're raising are such a pain. Rude, argumentative, hateful and just plain hard to get along with but I love them anyway. It's really hard so much of the time to just get them to school without major unpleasantness. Pray for us.

Re: 1919 model 94 range report
Thanks fellars
Ron it was cut back some where along the line, hold four five with one in the chamber.
I thought about changing it back but it`s so darn accurate the way it is, the target yesterday doesn`t do it justice dang eyes are getting so bad sight is a blur.
Prayers up for ya bro.

Re: 1919 model 94 range report
very nice rifle and great shooting.
the half octagon / half round and button magazine is my favorite configuration in a lever gun
I have several and they all shoot very well.
