I ordered this last week and just picked it up this afternoon.
Going to be my "Perfect Packin' Pistol" for now until the Planets line up, all things are equal and the Gods smile again and I find another Old Model Ruger that needs a new life brought about by Mr. Bowen.
I'll get to the range as soon as I can, been insanely busy. It's great for the Gun Fund but not so much for range time.

Last SBH I had was 20 odd years ago. Gave $100 for it. Guy tried to do a 'trigger job' on it. WITH A FILE! If you got lucky the sear would stay in the hammer notch! Needless to say it got new hammer/ sear, firing pin, smoothed up and new blue. Was good being in gummsmiff skool!
After hundreds of full house 44's I traded it off to a classmate. He turned it into a 22 K Hornet. Talk about LOUD! I got a 1953 vintage S&W K22, still have it.
Now I keep my Single Six 44 special( yes that's right, was a 32 frame) and a BH 41 handy.
I must confess, I can't get your old one out of my mind. My dad has an old 3 screw SBH that would be a good candidate for its twin.
Tell me about it! Every time I think of that one it's really makes me sad that I don't have it anymore.
So far the new one is really smooth right out of the box. I'll see how well it shoots my favorite .44M load ( 10.5 Grains of Unique w/ a 240 Gr. LSWC) as soon as I can. It needs another set of grips too. The ones from the factory are ok, but don't really fit well.

I like that!!
Just swapped a 10 1/2" one for a nice Colt 1911 last week!!
Still got my 7 1/2" one in "patent leather" blue, first centrefire handgun I got, way back in the early eighties.

Sometimes I wonder if it is worthwhile gnawing through the leather straps to get up in the morning..................
Sorry if I bummed you out. It was meant as a compliment.
That said, I really like the look of your new one. It probably will be more useable than the old one too. It was a good choice. What you thinking for grips?
P.S.
I like that load too!
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
And I appreciate the compliment. That whole thing continues to bum me out. Getting so darned sick, losing the Ruger and my 1911s, putting my family through all of that. Some days just get to me.
It's all good in the end though. I'm still here and get to have fun all over again chasing the ones that got away! I'm really liking the new SBH the more I handle it. I'd like a set of grips a little thicker and much darker to offset the stainless. Maybe buffalo horn? Haven't started really looking yet. Even a really dark walnut would look good I think. Going to order a new holster from El Paso. That's going to be black and a cross draw.

Ooohhhh, classy. I like a cross draw for a big single action.
I was thinking buffalo horn would look good on that gun too.
Half the fun is making them your own. It's hard to beat a good handgun.
