looking for info on changing Win.94 rebounding group
I thought there was a post recently about changing out the rebounding hammer group on a Winchester 94. Yesterday my grandson Jerry3 bought a 1988 Win 94 AE.45 Colt Trapper. We shot about 20 rounds through it, He wants it changed out like his old 30-30. is there someone that sells the parts as a group? Thanks for any help in this.

Here's probably the very first post about swapping out the lower tang on a rebounding hammer 94AE:

Re: looking for info on changing Win.94 rebounding group
I don't know if the parts are easily available at this point, perhaps piecing it together is the only way. I used to find them at gunshows and pass them along, but haven't been able to find any complete groups in a couple years.

Re: looking for info on changing Win.94 rebounding group
Sorry to dredge up this old post, but I'm trying to do this conversion.
If, like in the pictures I saw somewhere, all I need is a hammer, strut, spring, sear, and trigger, I should be ok.
My problem is, I need factory Winchester part numbers for these parts. They should be for rifles between
ser. #4,580,000 & 5.500,000.
Thanks.

Re: looking for info on changing Win.94 rebounding group
Okay, so I think I figured out what part numbers these 5 parts are.
If I'm wrong, please let me know.
If it's right (pretty sure it is), maybe it'll help someone else.
Hammer #4294X
Spring #4594X
Strut #4794X
Sear #7294X
Trigger #7794X
The hammer bushing should be the same. If not, it's #4394X

Re: looking for info on changing Win.94 rebounding group
Midwest Gun Works had some of the parts, and maybe complete lower tangs, (not sure if half cock or rebound) last year. Not sure if they still do.
I vaguely recall complete lower tangs were about $150-ish.

Those are old part numbers from a Numrich Gun Part print catalog. If I'm not mistaken from the early '90s.OldWin wrote:Okay, so I think I figured out what part numbers these 5 parts are.

Well, ain't that just super. Thanks Griff.
I don't know why it's so hard to find those numbers. Maybe it's just hard for me.

Order this reprint of the 1978 Winchester parts catalog: Winchester 1978 Component Parts Catalog. I just did... BTW, I need 4 of the Hammer Spring Guide Rods (Strut).OldWin wrote:Well, ain't that just super. Thanks Griff.

BTW, here's the page from the Numrich catalog where those part numbers come from:

I saw that diagram, but it didn't say Gun Parts Corp. on it.

Re: looking for info on changing Win.94 rebounding group
My "new" 1978 parts catalog came today.
And, lo and behold, those are the Winchester part numbers. The earlier hammer is what's different below serial # 4,580,000, it's a 4494X and doesn't use a bushing... and uses the two flat springs.OldWin wrote:Okay, so I think I figured out what part numbers these 5 parts are.

Awesome! Thanks a bunch Griff! I thought it was but I haven't called the guy back yet. Didn't want to bug him if it wasn't right.

I will do that Griff. Same part #?
