my sons and I went to the local indoor range for some practice. I misplaced a picture of those two working it out.
we had a couple of .380s, a .45, a .40, a 9mm, and a .22. all semi autos. My son and I both cannot detect any real actual difference shooting his xd40sc and my xd9sc.
I started with my XD45 and enjoyed discovering how rusty I get.
Here's the good stuff: I switched to the pre-Mark Ruger 22 for 30-some rounds, went back to the .45, and worked back and forth until I got this:
To me this is good shooting, It's the goal I work for. I am a meat hunter and I know that as long as I can control the windage I will always make meat without chasing wounded critters around. That's my experience on it so far.
Later I got into the groove with the Ruger LCP, the tiny little midget gun with a huge trigger pull that I love to shoot. For some reason that I don't understand I hit it off right from the start when shooting the lcp. 10 rounds. Maybe the dirty trigger and no actual sights help me shoot better? Heh. It's a mystery.
Then I got into a groove with the 22, and the next trip to the range I got the 9
grooving.
I rarely shoot at indoor gun ranges, but it is very useful for tuning muscle memories.
Here's the final 9mm target.
I realize that this is not contest winning accuracy, and I'm sure Y'all shoot better; but for me it is sure one shot kills on anything I want to eat.
the low shots are from jumping when the rifle near us went off. all three of us had the same signature. funny stuff when it happens exactly on the break.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition

You are a gentleman Blaine. Nice of you to say that. But I note that you are quite a good shot yourself. Fun stuff, eh?

If I recall correctly, your Daughter, the ocean going ship captain, shoots as good as the best of us.....How is she doing?Grizz wrote:You are a gentleman Blaine. Nice of you to say that. But I note that you are quite a good shot yourself. Fun stuff, eh?

Re: at the range
Thanks for asking.
She is doing very well. She leaves in a few days to tow a barge from Seattle to the chain and back. Will likely be after the first of the year before she gets back.

Re: at the range
I'd have to say it's pretty good shootin' you got those babies sighted for center mass.
I never could shoot a semi auto much good...well, maybe a Colt 1911...about all. Like skeeter, my hand was molded for a single action.
Time spent with your boys shooting is the best ever.....makes life worth living sometimes. I miss my boy a lot with him out west. He was home last month and we busted at least a thousand caps together in one day. Funny thing that when I asked him what guns he wants to shoot before we went to the gunclub, he chose all of the semi auto rifle stuff with 20-30 rd mags and jacketed ammo. I was cringing watching close to a thousand Nosler ballistic tips, Sierra matchkings and other premium bullets smack steel and rocks.
