AR-15 accessories?

Post by Tycer »

Finally broke down and got a flat top by a local builder. I need front and rear rail sights. What grip do you prefer and do I want a firexxx front vertical grip? Which one? Key type front guard.

Get a standard issue grip, it's cheap, until you've looked at a lot of others and decide what you want.

Magpul makes some good starter sights.

Both sights sit on the one rail, or one sits on the back rail, one on the gas block rail? If the latter, you've got a half an inch offset to make up.

I had one of these before I put an optic on. It's basically an A2 sight IIRC. Pricey, but gives you windage and elevation.

I prefer "Ergo"™ grips to the std or even the Magpul™ grips. Test out some at your local toy store. Same with sights. I like my freefloat forend but it has not method of attaching all those "doodads" to it... Which is why I like it! :P As for a vertical foregrip... why, just a new set of hand positions to get accustomed to...

The rails are inline. It's a carbine with a long tf atlas rail and a melanited 223 Wylde barrel.
Not looking for starter sights. I want solid quality. The grip is fine. Looking to see what y'all like.

The complete upper I bought has a quad rail fore-end which I hate. Too many sharp edges and a little fat for my hands. I put a low power scope on mine along with a set of 45 degree sights. A really handy combo.

Not sure what language ya'll are speakin'. Pretty happy with my slick side pre-A1 by Colt. But then I'm a retro kind of guy, even on my AR.

Stocks and grips:
Usually Magpul by choice.

Sights: Troy Industries are good, Magpul also excellent, various others.

Slings: VTAC

My work rifle has a Magpul CTR, MIAD grip, MBUS sights, an Aimpoint PRO and a VTAC. Various others I have are generally similar with minor variations. Mine all get used for real i.e not a range toy, so it's up to you on how you set it up.

Thank you sir. Exactly the answer from who and how I had hoped for.

I was looking for an LE6920 when I ran across this local builder who has a strong following in local law enforcement gunnies. Been in business a long time, builds them them to run, and has a "lifetime" warranty.

Vertical foregrips are personal preference. Used them extensively on issued M4s. My current rifle doesnt have one as it needs to be slick as possible, getting hung up as you jump out of a patrol car really sucks. I generally use them as a hand stop not a true VFG anyways.

this is what I put on my 556 pistol:
sights.jpg
https://www.amazon.com/AR-15-Detachable ... ron+sights

fifteen dollars and twentyfour cents.

I know, too rich for some, but it is what it is.

they seem to work just fine if the bullets landing where the sights are looking indicates anything.

:D
