That's cool...
- How many does it hold...?
What 'solvent' do you use...?
How much did it cost...?
How long does it take to clean...?

I also recommend keeping anything metal you're cleaning from touching the bowl, maybe add some "legs" to the basket.AJMD429 wrote:That's cool...
....just curious....
- How many does it hold...? A hundred or so.
What 'solvent' do you use...? Hornday "One Shot", the cleaner, not the case lube
How much did it cost...? ~$75.00 @ Harbor Freight
How long does it take to clean...? About 20 minutes. I dump them in water & Dawn Dish detergent immediately after shooting, then (like today, after soaking about 4-5 days, run them thru the Sonic Cleaner for 480 second on heat, then twice more without the heat... dump that water, then with clean, clear water run them for another 480 seconds.

Re: I like the Sonic Cleaner
The sonic cleaners work great for small batches.
I recently purchased a Thumblers Tumbler mod. B wet tumbler and the stainless steel pins to use in it.
I bought 1,000 once fired .223/5.56 brass from Dillon and ran them 500 at a time. they came out seriously better than new.
I dry tumbled them to remove the major crud before full length resizing and then swaged the primer pockets before wet tumbling for 3 1/2 hr. They come out looking better than new. Shining inside and out, just like they have never been fired. Those tiny pins get inside and just do an amazing job.

Re: I like the Sonic Cleaner
I like my sonic cleaner for occasionally really scrubbing the brass, but I don't use it every time with smokeless powder cases. For black powder cases I use it every time, and it's great. I've tried all kinds of home made solutions, but nothing has worked better than the Hornady Ultrasonic cleaning solution.

Re: I like the Sonic Cleaner
No, those were handed to me after a Wild Bunch match, theoretically previously loaded with smokeless, & I cleaned them in just the vibratory media... Truly, I don't even know if they were mine!BlaineG wrote:Did you use the sonic cleaner on these?

I run mine through my wet rotary tumbler with ceramic media and water. Add a tablespoon of Dawn, and they come out like new.

I have also used Treso ones. Not to hi-jack your post, but what do you think of them compared to SliXShot?

Re: I like the Sonic Cleaner
I went to Treso's right out of the box... and then to the SliXShots... NOT going back. The Tresos were much better than the stock nipples, but, were somewhat inconsistent in releasing the cap. These, with the hole in the side, blows out two sides, of the cap very consistently, making them quite wide, and while I have "cap guards" on the hammer channel, they come off pretty regularly. Out of five shots, I generally only have to pick off two caps. And those are already blown out, just depends on where the blown out sides are in relation to the well in the back of the cylinder.Ysabel Kid wrote:Thought so!Griff wrote:SliXShotYsabel Kid wrote:What kind of C&B cones are those?

I get good use from my sonic.
A bath in the sonic and then dry and tumble in some corn-cob media and my brass looks almost new.

My ultrasonic bath is big enough to take my 5 1/2 in barreled stainless Old Armys. I set the heat to 30C, add a spoonfull of Micro, remove the grips and dump them in. In the time it takes to neck a couple of cans of London Pride they look like they just left the factory.
