This past week while on vacation we went out of our way to visit Pall Mall, Tn. Pall Mall was the home of one of America's greatest heroes. Sgt. York lived there until he went to go fight the Kaiser in WWI. After the war he returned home and worked to improve the lives of the people around him.
My father was a WWII infantry Sgt. and raised me to respect Alvin Yorks's feats of valor and his character. As I walked over the property that once belonged to Alvin York I felt like I was walking on holy ground. In the visitor's center I had the pleasure to talk to 2 of the park rangers who were extremely knowledgeable about WWI history and about the life of Alvin York.
If anyone has an opportunity to be in middle Tn for any reason I'd urge you to try to take time for a visit to Pall Mall. I know it's something I've wanted to do for quite some time and it was well worth the time.
