I took some me time today..well with the chocolate lab
Things are a little busy for me right now, son getting married July 16, helped son move to new apartment last week, 10 year anniversary on Thursday, crazy at work, blah blah blah, like everybody else. With Mrs fordwannabe's blessing I took our little rescue lab with me to the gun range today, and it was REFRESHING. I took a couple guns I had shot before and am fine tuning loads for, a 1892 Winchester made in 1917 in 25/20, I used Pearson's scope mount and a intermediate eye relief scope(just for load developement, won't stay) to finalize the load and it shoots great, I mean really great(only issue is the 86 grain Remington,s are out of stock everywhere). I took my 1886 in 45-70 made in 1895 it is promising, but I think I need to trim the brass back just a touch as the bullet is engraving on the rifling, and the lever gets a little tough to close on a couple of them( using 340 grain and 405 grain home cast). I also took a few of the new acquisitions and shot them for the first time. Hawes revolvers in 44 mag and 22, Marlin 57 in 22 mag(tried 5 brands and it loves, loves, loves Remington 40 grain JHP), Ruger 10/22 Rifle not carbine full wood and stainless, tried federal auto match first, no need to try anything else(WOW), my 458 socom(tried 300 grain xtp with 42 grains of IMR 4198 seemed okay but first load tried), and a PSA AR in 223, needed to zero Vortex red dot. The weather was good, not too hot, the dog was well behaved and loved having a chance to get out even if he had to stay on a leash, I feel much better, you guys should give it a try, you might like it. Oh the other thing that happened, a guy came up to the table next to me and was adjusting on an AR we got to talking and he was a PA state trooper, nice guy good gun skills and a pleasure to be with. All in all a good day, and you know what the grass can be cut tomorrow, the busted pipe can be gator bited after church, and the vacuuming(my job) will still be there and can be done during the commercials of the sprint cup race tomorrow, so no harm no foul.

Man! You get to do all of the neat stuff!
OK, pleasantries are dealt with, on to business.....
That scope mount.......Pearsons......I got one for a 94 carbine and noticed it will almost work on a Model 53 takedown in 25-20 I have laying around. (Later version of the 92). Got a couple of Leupold scout scopes laying around too. Is it worth doing some minimal machining on it to get it to work on a 92?-----6

II had an initial issue with my mount as my rear site was not the same distance from the reciever as the holes he drilled in the mount. I called him and I marked the stand that is part of the rear sight assembly with fingernail polish and sent it to him. He redrilled and it will still fit 94. I am using it as a tool for load development only now that I have the load we have to work on the loose nut behind the trigger (me). I am planning on buying another if that means anything's

Thanks Tom. Your problem is the same issue that I have. I went ahead and started it and it's almost done. Like you, I want it for load development.
Shooting precisely at 100 meters is not what it used to be with any kind of an open sight. I lose confidence in my loads unless I'm absolutely sure that I'm the problem, and not the load. Thanks bud------6
