Pretty cool. Nice to see an almost-scrapped firearm returned to service.

As soon as I saw the title " IJ .45 Colt " I thought of Joe. He has posted about that revolver here but not in such great detail.... 8)

Fred,

Thanks for posting that thread. I'd forgotten all about it. And during one of the hard drive crashes several years ago I lost all my book marks so I lost it. I've bookmarked it again.

gamekeeper,
I "thought" I posted the same story here, but perhaps I didn't. The last 3 years have really taken it's tole on me.

I still have IJ and as soon as the stupidity here in this house eases off (if it ever does) I'll get the permit and take it to the range for a shooting session.

Hey, I thought you weren't in IL anymore? Does IN require 'permits' also? Oh yeah... you have posted about it here, but like gamekeeper said, not quite in such detail.

Thanks for resurrecting that story, OS. A true saga, J Miller. Any follow-up to it? Also, nice pair of single actions you have there, OS.

Well, Goat guy, thete us a story in a Paco book about one of his that ket go with an overload not entirely his fault though he took responsibility. Similar destructive results to the cylinder and frame. An obhect lesson.

The gun was reconstructed by some friends for him which he also recounts in his book.

Fred,
Looks like your Cattleman has a taller front sight too.

GoatGuy,
Not really. It's been some years now since I've fired anything. But when last shot I think the round count was up to over 600 and nothing had happened.

Joe, I don't think mine has the original front sight. Looks well used long ago.

It looks a bit like someone installed a S&W front sight on it. I remember a lot of guns done that way back in the revolver days.

Not S&W but I see your point. It certainly is not a SAA type sight.
