When they said that milk fat was actually good for you I stopped with the 2% stuff and went back to the scary 4%. Tastes better!

When I was a kid we had a cow and I would go to the frig and slide that gallon crock out to the edge of the shelf, tip it over against my bare belly and blow back the skim of cream on top to get me a drink of that cold milk. When I got caught mom whipped me with one of those little thin leather belts that women wore about the end of WWII or Korea. I miss those days.

A few years ago I was getting raw milk from a dairy. Id separate some of the cream off for coffee. One time I poured some cereal into a bowl, went to the fridge for milk, and realized I was out. It being impossible to put cereal back in the box, I had to use straight cream on my cereal. I think it was the best cereal I ever had. Ever.

On the Dairy we lived on for a couple years in Dairy Valley (Now Cerritos, CA) one cow didn't like the milking machine, so we hand milked her. Mr. Vanderfeer's dairyman would give a squirt to the kitten and a squirt to us kids, straight from the 'tap' so to speak. That was the best milk ever.

Gonna die? For Pete's sake I grew up drinking it straight from the cow. I guess I've been dead all these years and never knew it.
Besides, buttermilk tastes good. The problem is finding it.

I've heard of that....
I don't miss the whippings but I miss my Mama.
Yep, but really we earned the whippings, didn't we?

My Mom was....Ummmm.....Sort of violent. She didn't spank, she's haul off a punch you, and it sucked if she had something in her hand at the time. When my Daughter started going to Ohio for a few weeks at a time, I mentioned to mom that if she did that to Daughter, I'd press charges. That seemed to work, or she was getting old and tired.

Since this has gone from milk to Mommas; my brother and I towered over our Mom, she came in about 5'-0" but the Texan (and Cherokee) in her wouldn't allow any sass. We used to laugh at her when she tried to discipline us which made her really mad and she would reach to the top of the frig where she kept her quirt. Boys of 6'-1" and 6'-4" were no match for a 5'-0" mad Texan with a quirt. I remember those days "fondly"(?)...

Oh, no! You are going against all of the new wisdom of the age!
Now, somehow I want to go out and -
Throw my garbage into the recycle bin,
Shoot a condor with a lead bullet,

Harpoon some whales!
I was brought up on moms milk & later cows milk, we had milk or cream or real butter on every thing
like most every one else who replied here mom was the one who gave out the 40 lashes
Mom was mostly bluster when it came to threats of physical discipline. She once tried to spank my little brother with a yardstick. It broke and we all started laughing. Then someone suggested the application of a wooden spoon, sharply, on the top of the head. This quickly procured our attention.

Problem is it's cold, not cow temperature.
