Prayer Request
Gents,
My aunt, Gladys Nuss, was to have had a quadruple bypass today. She is 75 years old, and was diagnosed with blockages just a few days ago. She is staying in the ICU, at Slidell Memorial Hospital, in Louisiana. I have not heard any word on the outcome, yet. Please keep this gentle, aging aunt in your prayers.
Thanks,
Shawn

Gents,
I heard that she is still in surgery, and that it could take 9 hours for the whole procedure. If the doctors started on time, then 7:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time, U.S.A. will be about when they finish up. That is 90 minutes from now.
Thanks for the prayers. Please, keep them coming.

Gents,
I just got a call from my mother that my aunt is out of surgery, and resting (if you can call it that!), in the Intensive Care Unit.
Thanks, again, for your prayers. They are appreciated. If you could, would you pray for a speedy recovery for my aunt.
Thanks,
Shawn

Gents, ladies, too,
Thanks for the continued prayers.
I just spoke to the Surgical ICU nurse that is tending to my aunt Gladys. My aunt is sitting up, and doing well, according to that nurse. I was not able to speak to my aunt, though. I will try to meet my parents at the hospital tomorrow. ICU visiting hours are restrictive, so I may not be able to talk to my aunt. I will give my parents their time with her.
Thanks, again,
Shawn

Ladies & Gentlemen,
Thanks for your prayers.
My wife & I spent some time with my aunt, today. She is alert, and eating solid food. I spoke to her doctor, who siad that she will be moved, probably tomorrow, to the Cardiac I.C.U.. At some point in the near future, aunt Gladys will need to spend some time in an "intermediate" facillity for rehabilitation & physical therapy. Hopefully, she can make enough of a recovery, that she will be able to go back home to live with her daughter & son-in-law. Currently, my aunt cannot support her own weight, partly due to arthritis. She needs 24-hour care and supervision, until she can stand alone, and get around unaided.
One problem, and it can be a big one, is that my aunt needs hearing aids, in order to hear most anything that anyone tells her. Unfortunately, even with her hearing aids, I fear that she is missing most of what the medical staff & doctors are telling her. I made a point of calling my parents, and I spoke to my cousin, too, in order to be certain that they understood what the doctor is planning for aunt Gladys. They have been told the same things that I was told, so, now, evreyone is on the same page. I know that she has cardiac problems, but I keep thinking about my aunt's hearing difficulties. I feel that she is not able to communicate properly.
Please, continue to keep Gladys Nuss in your prayers.
Thanks,
Shawn

Ladies & gentlemen,
I have visited with my aunt a few more times. She is now in what is called the Cardiac ICU. She continues to improve. My cousin, Jean, has been making arrangements for her mom to spend some time in a local nursing home, where Gladys can recieve proper rehabilitation, and have 24-hour care. Aunt Gladys still has a good stretch of recovery ahead of her, though. She appreciates your prayers. I do, too. Thank you all.
