1,000 Turn Out for Unclaimed Marines' Funeral

Post by Malamute »

Public encouraged to attend burial for unclaimed veteran; services moved to larger venue,

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran passed away last month in Indianapolis, leaving no family behind. An Indianapolis-based nursing home was hoping to get the word out to encourage the public to attend his funeral - and the response has been so overwhelming that the funeral location has moved to a larger venue.

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

Wow, what a neat story -- thanks for sharing.

Interesting to see some of the comments from those who attended.
