ok let's start with it's not my fault.(updated 9-24-15)

Post by fordwannabe »

Ok see I was standing at the counter at my local pusher err I mean gun store, looking at a reasonably priced AR 15 DPMS in like new condition. He knows me and asked if I had seen the 32ws? NOOOOO but look dude I am going to Colorado in 6 weeks and I shouldn't spend money. He says but I have a good customer special for you today only(no pressure mind you). The AR is priced at $500 the 1894 which happens to be DOM 1945 is $325, no way, I think I'll take the AR for 5 bills, when he says to poor defenseless me.....$625 for the pair. Well hopefully I can get some overtime between now and Colorado. I love/hate when he does that to me. I can resist anything...except temptation. Full range report to follow. I am weak, but who could turn that down. 1894 in 32 Winchester special and made in 45 comeon...no you couldn't either.

Even at todays lower prices for ARs it sounds like you bought the DPMS and got the Winny as a prize!

Awaiting pictures and range report.

No pressure pressure huh ? Or is that low pressure pressure? I have been known to be tempted many times. You are not alone friend but as you know, pictures are required or it did not happen.

You did the only thing you could do. If you'd have passed, you would have forever kicked yourself.......especially over the '94.

And......, it would have ruined your trip to Colorado.

Didn't they restart production in 45? Wonder where it falls in line?

Sounds like every one needs a " Pusher " like that. You can always work more, but how often you gonna find a nice lever?

Well, I am a great one to say anything. While my wife was shooting for her cc permit I strolled over to my local gun emporium. Another semi long story ensues: About 10 years ago one of my sons went to work for an armored car company. He needed a .38 revolver quick. He wanted my Python but I said no he could have my King Cobra to use, along with a gunbelt, holster, speedloaders, etc. He thanked me and went on. About 4 years ago the company issued S&W M&Ps in 40sw. Awhile after that I asked him if he had a backup and offered him a nice Taurus .38snub in exchange for the King Cobra since he no longer needed it. He declined and being the wonderful Father that I am I didn't push the issue that I was loaning him the King Cobra.
Then came Christmas 2014 and I gave him the Taurus as one of his presents as I wanted him to have a backup. Lo and behold at the end of January on my Birthday he brought the King Cobra back to me saying he took the hint from Christmas. I explained that was not the reason for the Taurus it was a present not an exchange. I told him to look in the safe and pick something and I would see if I could part with it. He had chosen the Smith M&P VTAC in .40sw. So he got that and I had been thinking all this year I should replace it but never had done so. I had mentioned to my friendly gun pusher to let me know if he got a VTAC in .40sw as all he ever had it in was 9mm. He called Thursday and said he had one so over I went, we haggled and I somehow got him down to $615 from his $729 asking price and I told him I would take it. as we finished the paperwork he said Oh, I forgot look what I just got in: He brings out a genuine Colt M45 1911 Marine pistol priced at $1799. He very sweetly said he would let me have it for $1749. What to do?
I had $700 cash so instead of spending $661with tax for the VTAC I logically put both the VTAC and the Colt on layaway, giving him $200 down on the VTAC and $500 on the Colt and now have 90 days to pay the balance. Am I smart or what? See my strong will power, I did not buy anything and take it home. God Bless.

I HAD TO SELL THE AR!!!! bought if for $425 sold it for $500 so not to bad....now the reason I had to sell it. I was on my way home tonight when "the pusher" calls and says you gotta come see this. I am piqued but he won't tell me what it is. No not tonight blah blah blah. He says get up here now. Well that sounds like its important so I ask am I gonna like it...."OH YEAH". So I turn the car around and go see "the pusher". I walk in and there on the counter is a unknown vintage 1893 takedown in 30-30. He told me out right I am making $50 bucks on it and your price before tax is $ 365.00. YUP, YES, OK, UHUH. It needs acleaning but it takes down nice, bore is dark but I see lots of rifling, and is pretty tight. I called a buddy who snapped up the AR for the asking price and the deal was done. Well there ya go. I had to sell my AR.....YEA!!!! Tom

You were better off without the DPMS, their build quality is far from the best. Sounds like you're happy.
