Back in the US of A

Post by JimT »

We arrived in Austin, Texas Sunday morning after 50+ hours of travel, 23+ hours of which we spent crammed into a metal tube that was flung at high velocity through the upper atmosphere. Arriving in Austin I discovered a t-shirt waiting for me which was well received, especially since I was becoming clothing deprived.

Thanks so much!! I do appreciate it.

We are settling in for awhile, catching up on rest and relaxing.

You are right Mike. Those in the military experience it as do those of us who live in strange and wild places. Our first night in America was kind of troubling ...
No Noise!
No people talking outside our gate at 1 AM causing the guard dogs to bark for an hour.
No one screaming over a loudspeaker at 3:30 AM that everyone should get up and pray.
No getting tangled in the mosquito net when you get up to pee at 4 AM
No one burning trash and filling the entire place with the wonderful smells at 5 AM.

BUT ... I WILL GET USED TO IT! I am determined to try.

Go out and shoot some type of firearm that would be illegal elsewhere - it is the ultimate expression and enjoyment of freedom...

Glad you and your wife are back with your family for a while. At least you didn't have to ride the French train.

Welcome back Sir! What ever your planning on doing (some shooting, visiting family and friends, traveling) hope you'll get to accomplish them. Speaking of visiting friends if your planning on seeing or calling Paco, tell him all of us here at Leverguns are thinking about him!

Thanks for the welcome back everyone! We have a new grandbaby due in the next couple weeks and will be hanging around for that .. I am making plans to visit Paco later in the year .. we will be here for awhile and I may not get out that way until Nov/Dec. I am scheduled to attend the Handgun Hunters Challenge in Tennessee in October and hope to take a hog or two. My wife needs to have some surgery and that will take some time so we will be in the US until after New Year. I plan on being in Missouri, Oklahoma and Indiana at some point also. Right now we are just getting used to the US. It is quite a bit different than where we have been living. :D
