Believe it or not, Dad was picked for a New Hampshire moose permit.

Getting picked for two moose permits in one year is almost unheard of. I am flabbergasted.

Many are telling me that is a sign to go on a hunt for Dad. Last week I could not even think of it but I believe this is something I have to do. I wished Dad was still here.
Sometimes the good thing are sent to you to help you though the hard ones. Go hunting and make him proud!!

I agree with your thinking. I think you should go in honor of your Dad. Follow your heart in this circumstance, it will not lead you wrong.

Some years ago, I took a trip in my Volvo to go visit my Granny in Kansas. She had survived a fall into a window and a lot of brain swelling. While she survived, she had terrible headaches and my Mom and I took it upon ourselves for me to take a trip to see her in Kansas. I had only planned on spending a few days there, but on the way in to western Kansas, I had catastrophic transmission failure. I was stranded for 2 weeks there and as an interesting side note, the Volvo dealership in Kansas was "world class" and had very big connections with the aftermarket extended warranty I had. They did 7K worth of repair of ALL things for $700 on my part. It was a miracle for sure.

Lastly, it gave me much more time with Granny then what I had originally planned and I sort of realized that this was meant to be even as it was happening. She was my favorite Grandma, even over my Ukrainian one who was no slouch.

I think you see the writing on the wall here, and you know what needs to be done.

God Bless you and your beloved Father and your family.

Follow your heart, and do what you think is right. Prayers sent.

For what it's worth, I agree with the others. If it's at all possible, you NEED to do these hunts.

I truly believe it will bring you close to your Dad and immeasurable peace at the same time.

If you can only do one, do the hunt you think your Dad would have been most excited about.

Bigbore, our old friend. I know you spent a lot of time with your Father. I remember you speaking very highly of him over the years.

May he be in Gods memory and may he hear his voice soon.

Peace to your family friend.

Deepest sympathies and condolences on your loss. I lost my dad 8 years ago on June 15. He went very quickly and unexpectedly too. I really haven't stopped mourning his passing though much easier now, he was my best friend. Take as much time as your heart tells you to mourn.

Again thank you all for the sincerest condolences.

I received a message from a friend. Dad won a New Hampshire moose permit as well. It is almost unheard of to get two moose permits in the same year.

Sadly, neither state will transfer it to me. The rules don't allow for it.

But in all honesty, being in the woods without Dad will never be the same. Over the past couple of weeks helping out my mother and taking care of her home and her medical needs I have been fondly remembering our past hunts and experiences. I sorely miss the times we would go out.

After work I would go hunt a few miles away at my favorite spot and when I came out of the woods I would see Dad parked on the road and we'd chat about what went on. I know that will not happen again.
