Stopped at a local gun shop just to browse. Picked this up for a buck and a half.
Looks like its been carried more than shot.
Old Lyman receiver sight.
The notch on the forearm looks intentional. At least one buck.
The after market recoil pad looks vintage.
Loads and ejects okay. Need to try it out at the range.

Looks like a steal. At a buck and a half you bought a sight and they threw in a rifle for 75.00. I couldn't of passed it up either, looking forward to a range report.

I had a 36SC and a 1936A for awhile !
Both were excellent cast bullet shooters .

.
That's a REALLY nice-lookin' rifle, there !
Congrats !
I remember those RedHead pads being commonplace department store sporting goods department shelf items in the 1970's.

Almost qualifies as a giveaway.
I ain't seen anything even close to shootable for that kind of money around here.
My last ar15 barrel cost more than that.

Good old fashioned highway robbery ....well done......if you want to get the gun for $50, pop off the sight and I'll send you a hundred for it.----6

You know what they say about the blind squirrel.
As far a robbery, I wonder what they paid the guy they bought it from?
If I remember, they had a pre-safety 336 for $189 someone else was fondling at the time.

This has never happened to me either, but it happened to my friend this week with a Marlin 336 30-30.

A great buy. I'd have bought it too.

If that gunshop sold the Marlin 36 for $1.50 they should have their head examined.
