I have that one and pull it out ever so often for a good view. I can't decide on my favorite Duke pic...Big Jake and The Shootist come to mind as a couple of the best.

I have that movie on CD.
I think my favorite actress in it is Susana Dosamantes. She's just cute as a bugs ear.

As for the rifle he uses in this one, I think it's split between a carbine and Trapper. It looks to have about an 18" barrel.

I'm not sure I can think of one that's not good.

I like the Quiet Man best of all.

I have all of The Duke's western movies from Stagecoach through The Shootist. I have watched The Searchers so many times that I can just about recite the entire script from start to finish.

One of my son's favorite scenes - since he was about 5! Very good instruction on why you never stick your barrel into dirt or snow!

Isn't a "trapper" technically just a type of carbine - a "short short" rifle (since a carbine is basically a short rifle)?

"Big Jake" all the way. Don't get me wrong, I don't think the Duke made a bad movie (okay, maybe the Ghengis Kahn flick), but "Big Jake" is my all time favorite movie period!!! :D 8) :D

Okay, sorry for all the posts on this one thread, but I had a lot to say!

cas - how do you do that? I just got a PSP for my son and I. One of the reasons I did was to have him be able to watch movies while we are on trips. I went to copy a DVD I own, and it won't let me. Copy protected, but since this is for my own personal use, and I already paid for the darn thing, I don't beleive I shouldn't be allowed to make a personal duplicate.

HELP! My wife is going to kill me if I can't download some movies to watch. That was half of my sales-pitch to her!

While I can watch DVD's on my computer, I can't capture images from them. The software won't let me. But if it's in AVI, Mpeg or similar format I can.

Okay, I'm showing my complete lack of computer and technology-related skills here, but how do you (or can you) get it into those formats?

Ya got me.

I do have a program to rip DVD's to my computer. I don't have the ability (at least I don't think I do) to convert them to those formats. I don't know what the programs to do that would be.

However you can often download movies from file sharing sites that are already in AVI and MPEG format. Or so I'm told. :D That's not right though and no one should do it. 8)

Capture a couple of frames and you can make an animated GIF...
(trying to make up my mind which to use for an avatar: the one below or the the one I'm currently using. As you can see, Rio Lobo is also one of my favorites, along with Angel And The Badman (1947)...)

To capture a frame here's how I do it:

Pause the movie where you want it, then click the "print screen" key on the keyboard. Then minimize the movie box and save the image you just got to the HD and edit it however you need too.

The program I use to save DVD's to my computer is called "Mac the ripper"... since I'm on a Mac. That probably doesn't help you any.
