Beautiful 6x6! I'm sure that was a great shot and a great hunt for you nephew! Congrats to him! (And to you, Danny, as I bet you taught him a lot of what he knows!)

Is a "satellite" bull one that is on the perimeter of Yellowstone?

Western MT is GREAT country!!!

Victor a satellite bull is a bull that hangs around trying to steal cows from a herd bull, they generally are a smaller or past their prime bull and the herd bull is continually running them off and keeping the cows corralled. I called in a nice 6x6 for him when he was a wee lad of 12 or 13 for his first year bow hunting and since then he has arrowed alot of animals but the one thing I could never teach him was how to sharpen a knife he still brings me his knives and hatchet before season to put a razor edge on them. danny

That's a great harvest with a bow, congrats to the young man. Unfortunately that's all a lot of us can do, is think about animals like that. I miss living in Idaho. :(

Jim if I remember right he said about 100lbs per quarter w/bone in it took 2 pack horses to bring him out, I would guess 350 lbs meat total including neck and between the quarters, he does alot of elkburger cut with beef fat, I have a meat grinder that came off a navy ship it makes short work of animals. danny
