Colt SAA 32-20

Post by Pop Watts »

Hello All.
I have posted some pics of a Colt SAA in 32-20.
It is currently for sale here in Australia.
Can anyone comment on whether this gun is original or refinished?
It just looks too good.
I do not know much about Colts and would appreciate your comments.
Thanks.

Looks to me like a good quality restoration. Grips are not correct and the case colors look too bright for a 90 yr old gun. Markings look good, not buffed out. What's up with the base pin?

Beautiful gun--- my first impulse is to say it looks "too good" for its age, and the wear on thegrips does not match the finish

But, thats not a $100 local gunsmith re-finishing either--- that rascal looks niiice!

I agree, the colors are close, but not right, plus the bluing on the backstrap and trigger are not the right color. Its also common for some of the better restorers to have the roll stamps to make the lettering "fresh" too.

All in all, its still a nice looking first gen Colt. ----------------6

This is a near new one made in 1917. The bluing is more subtle. The stocks on this are factory.

Thanks for the replies.
It looks great, but for the asking price it would have to be 100% original.
I agree with you guys.
It just looks too bright to be original.
Thanks again.
