What's the value of a 1886 in 38 56, nice wood normal wear nice patina, octagon barrel?

Yea but there on my phone its got a little rust on barrel. Tell me about the cartridge, can it be had or replaced, with another.

It looks like most old guns do to me. Used, normal for its age.

Condition is everything when guessing value. Pics??? Sure, it could be rebored to about whatever you want but I'll bet you can find the stuff to load for 38-56.

Just neck down 45/70. Lee makes dies. 38/55 bullets.

Yep, make brass from 45/70. 38- 56 headstamped brass is hard to find and pricey. I think Buffalo arms sells ammo for it both ways, but it ain't cheap.

I had one. 38-56 groove diameters can vary. Mine was .384".

Glad you got it. I have some resized brass for it if you end up wanting it. It is actually loaded ammo, but I do not know what the load is so if you want it I will pull it down and ship the components.

Thanks for the info and comment s it will be here monday. I'll get back with y'all on the brass and other when I check out the gun. Didn't think I could go wrong at $700. Cost me an extra $94 to get it here that quick.
