Aussie visitors update

Post by peter richards »

Sorry I have not been able to update sooner, we have been on the go since we got here. We have had a great time & it has been great to meet a few of you. Sorry sixgun, we were too late getting in to see you, it was great talking to you. A big thanks to CRS for putting us up & organizing the leverguns dinner thanks to all who came. Thanks also to Steve down in Lampasa for looking after us & Joe & Richard for taking care of us in Hondo. Below are picks of my Blackbuck & Jacobs Sheep taken with an 1899 Savage in. .303 Savage.

Peter,
congrats on your successful hunt- Terry will do nice mounts for you.. Where is Doc's bison?

Just finished breakfast here at the farm and it sure is quiet without you guys; the coffee goes further though. :) It is also amazing how little food was left after our wild game dinner. A bunch of hungry Levergunners can really put it away- even the cheesecakes are all gone!

One of the group pix taken with my camera, is pretty good, but dark due to the weak flash. Marty offered to lighten it when she gets time and I will then add it to this thread with names.

Tell Jimmy that the T shirts were a big hit and even Colin got one. Marty placed our boomerang in the display cabinet in the foyer for safekeeping.

You folks travel safely and plan to stop by again next time you are "in country".

Hi Pete,
It was an absolute joy to have you guys come by. I don't often get a chance to just take the day off and set around talking guns with fellow gun guys, over some outdoor food and a beer or two. It was a really fun day for both Sari and I.
When you get a chance email that info we talked about and tell Jimmy to email, too. I forgot to get him the sample dummy cartridge and the bullet mold info. Also, I need to get you the import/export guys info too.

BTW, I have that thing (Not even sure I can spell it) you left hanging in my office. Thanks and I hope you guys come back.

Just boarded our last plane in LA. We had a great time, thanks again to all you folks that made us feel so welcome. When I get home I will post some pictures. Our hunt in Hondo was a success , one of the guys got a Bison which he is getting full body mounted, I got a Blackbuck Antelope & a 4 horned sheep. We got to shoot machine guns, exploding targets. I picked up the 1888 & 1891 Marlins to complete my Marlin collection, a 303 Savage 99 that I used on my hunt, a Mossberg Palomino, & 6 Daisy Red Ryder's.
Special thanks to Charles for the great spread he put on for us, & also to Steve for the afternoon we spent with him.
Pics to come soon.

Sure was great to read about the Aussie adventures, sounds like an excellent time was had by all. Plus, it gives me a chance to use my only Aussie joke:
What do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back? A stick.
Sorry, but when I get a chance to use that one I take it!
