When I used to shoot silhouette with the guys from the Mexican Shooting Federation ( they had to make every match ) their rules clearly stated there were only two reasons for missing a match that were acceptable 1 vehicle break down 2 too drunk to shoot.

As much as I like to shoot, I agree with your wife. There comes a point where things are just not fun and any shooting, for any length of time below about 30 degrees is work. Your fingers numb up.

Our first silhouette match of the season is cancelled because of the snow. Its near impossible to call your misses.

But.......I'll give you credit for having large pallinas. :D ----------6

Way to go my tough Canadian brother! I had not fired a gun all winter until last week. Took my new short barreled shotgun out on my birthday, it is a great way to fight cabin fever!

I hope you had fun, thank goodness no wind! :D

Now that's what I call dedication to the sport of metallic silhouette shooting! :D

No, you are not nuts... you just know how to have fun! And you are not alone. Here's a picture from a couple years ago of a Smallbore Cowboy Rifle silhouette match we had at Hat Creek Rifle & Pistol Club in Burney, CA. There was well over a foot of snow and only five guys showed, but we had fun!

I shot the California State Championship match back about 1980 or so, cant even remember the name of the range now, in Southern Cali somewhere. Those guys came over from Mexico, shot the Saturday match, built a campfire there at the range that evening, played guitars, sang and drank all night long as I was told, then went out and won the match on Sunday. Unbelievable.

My wife is right of course :D :D
However I find that whatever the circumstances shooting relaxes me and I can forget all the day to day stuff that gets under my skin, I get irritable if I don't shoot regularly :D :D
I have held these silhouette shoots through the winter (eleven matches each time) for the last fifteen years and have only cancelled twice, last time for our bad ice storm in December.

When I left Weaver and went to work for Bell Hell, I stopped shooting sil.
But there were 3 of us and we went to school together, so we just went uo to Bates Canyon every sunday and had our own informal shoot.
