Winchester 30-30

Post by rjohns94 »

Was at Gander Mountain and found a Winchester 30-30 that looked to be 98% or better on metal. In the quick look, I did not look at serial #, nor examine very closely for wear or look at the crown, but I did see average wood with some dings and NO safety. $200. Think I will go back today and look again.

I would look again also! It seems as if you can hardly buy a box of shells for 200 bucks any more!

@ $200, you better quit looking and be buying. Good luck on it still being there.

A Mdl 94 Win in 30-30 for $200.00???????? It should be home with you right now. Thats a very good price for one in that condition.

You probably hurt it's self esteem leaving it there. Now it's going to need hours and hours of counseling.

Oh no, you're probably too late! Report back if you still manage to get this gun. I've been surprised on occasion on the deals you can find at Gander on the used shelf. It goes without saying that the majority of their stuff is over priced, but I wander the store often just in case I run into one of those too good to be true used gun deals where the buyer obviously made a mistake.

If I picked one up and it had a $200 price tag, I would not have put it down.

I hope someone hadn't just swapped tags around to mess with your mind. Everytime I ever left a gun like that, someone grabbed it 5 minutes later.

I had a deal like that a few years ago. Went to the local gun dealer in Columbus OH and he had a 1971 made Win Mod 94 in the used gun rack on commision by owner. In pristine condition slicker that snot on a door knob, no scratches or dings, perfect bore, even had the sight hood for $157.00! I DID NOT leave that gun in the store. It's a tack driver with 1-1/2" groups at 100 yards with Win 170 grainPP. A year later they quit making the Model 94. Who knew - what luck!

I picked up a 1974 Model 94 just after Winchester closed it's doors for $180. It had a $200 price tag but I offered $180 and the guy pulled out a form  . WHAT LUCK!!! The action is butter smooth, trigger pull is light and crisp, and the bore is perfect! The stock has a few dents and dings, and there is the carry spot on the reciever and some scratches on the metal, but all in all a fine rifle.
