Good morning, everyone

Post by jnyork »

Woke up about 0630 this morning , bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to greet the new day and the new year.

Today marks the 21st anniversary of me being a sober person, not a drop in all those years. Feeling good about it and just wanted to share the joy a little. :D

Happy birthday! The best thing that ever happened to me was when I found a group of guys that helped me obtain and maintain sobriety! God Bless and here's to 21 more...

Congratulations, I still enjoy a glass or two, not enough to stop me feeling bushy tailed in the morning or I'd quit too!

Congrats! Today is a milestone for me as well, no cigs/cigars for four years. I can breath again, and the Wife says I smell good.

Good for you! We are not far apart. On Feb. 19, 1995 I quit drinking and smoking weed. A year later I gave up cigarettes. I still do the Skoal thing but I ain't giving up everything....gotta live a little.----6

cool ! Perseverance --- I locked beer out of my life on a temporary basis a few months back, (It hadn't gotten to the stage where I felt a need to quit -- but I needed to shed some pounds ) -- had some great side effects , ---this holiday season, I found out I wasn't dependent on the stuff and could have an occasional beer with the guys without having 6 -- and when I do have 6, cheap beer (lake beer) kicks me in the head like a mule

Believe it or not, after "enjoying" this holiday season , I am darn well looking forward to locking it down again for another couple of months ---- I sleep better without the stuff,

Yeah, I found all sorts of side benefits I hadn't anticipated. I sleep way better, I feel way better, my relationships with others are vastly better, I have quite a bit more money (to spend on gunsnammo, of course  ), I can drive down the road without looking for a cop in my rearview, last but not least I have an entirely new set of friends for the most part, having discovered that my drinking buddies were not really buddies at all. Once I quit drinking they would sort of say hello if I met them on the street but I could tell they didn't want anything more to do with me. Almost all of them are dead now.

Thanks for the warm greeting. Our house woke up smiling and happy as well. It is a true blessing for some of us. My next anniversary will be 25 years.

I was allergic to the stuff. I kept breaking out in spots. Spots like jail!
