I showed that to some Mennonite friends a couple of years ago, the wife was raised Amish and they laughed good over it.

That works great until somebody spikes the egg-nog. Then you get to celebrating and forget to blow out the tree. Next thing you know both you and the tree are "really" lit.7.62 Precision wrote:That's how we always lit our tree.

Re: A Rare Display Of Amish Christmas Lights....
Blaine you never cease to surprise me! I always wonder what you might say in a slightly less PC format!!!!
Merry Christmas, i grew up for awhile in Amish country. You brought back some wonderful memories. I remember a small crossroads general store with hitching posts and cast iron rings. A very polite elderly couple who welcomed us long haired heathens when we stopped to buy curds. If the store was empty a pack of smokes and a warm Coca-cola was also a possibility.
When us farm boys would go crop touring we would drive in their area because the OPP never did. When we slid in the ditch some local lad would tow us out with a team of draught horses. It is amazing what 2 real horsepower can do. And they say my lawnmower is 4 horses! Our wrecks would jump outa the ditch! The young lads appreciated a cold one too!
IMO some of the finest God fearing folk I ever met.
