Frustrated with Springfield

Post by Bill in Oregon »

I sent them my recalled XDS more than two months ago, and it is likely I won't see it for another month. I have always found their products well designed and priced. But being without my carry gun for three or more months is not something I am pleased with. Not sure if I will buy Springfield again.

This is the first recall of this type for Springfield. On a brand new design. Having the newest design of any product is subject to glitches. I have been bit by this on several occasions.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Tycer, I have been through recalls with Ruger. It's not the recall that I find nearly as irksome as the long delay in having my gun back.

.

I got turned off on Springer's, when I saw the "Made in Brazil" stamped into the bottom of the frame.

Good reason to have more than one carry gun.

RELAX..... I sent mine in the day after the announcement. They had it logged into their system 9/4 and got it back several months ago. They have been communicating extremely well through the whole process. I cannot tell any difference, in trigger pull or function.

Did you go to their web site and track your pistol's progress? First in, First out, and you get a 7 round mag when it's returned.

Open the link and put your serial number in. "Received", "In process", "Repaired", "Ready to ship", "Shipped". They will send you and email, with the tracking number once it has shipped. You can also call their customer service and see what date they are processing.

I sent mine last week. What's the point of it sitting around here when it can sit around there. ;)

Always have a pair and a spare. One is NONE, two is one... IF you are ever actually involved in a self-defense act involving your carry gun you WILL likely need another barring seizure of all your guns.

Hobie

Can't run cast in a Glock. I have owned them, though. They are fine pistols.

Don't be so hard on them. Glocks go bang every time you pull the trigger.

Mine went bang every time until the two rear frame rails broke off when I was shooting.

Glock replaced the frame for free since it was a known issue that they should have issued a recall for, but Glock doesn't issue recalls - it isn't necessary with Glock perfection . . .

As far as being dependable as a hammer, I have no experience firing hammers . . .

Bill, Is it only the XDS that is on recall ? I talked to a Guy yesterday that has a SA 40cal and said He hasn't heard anything. He really couldn't tell Me the exact model He has.

They received my XDs on September 2nd, and had it back to me three days short of two months. They said the trigger would be slightly heavier, but I can't tell a difference. The reset does seem to have a more definite feel to it.
