Pictures of more pistol grips
I know how you guys like pictures so here are some of the latest of my Pistol grip work.
With the exception of one set I sold to OS, all of the ones I have made fit into my Ruger collection.
I have two more sets to make to complete the change over to all custom grips on the single actions.
Next I will have to work up patterns for my DA revolvers and then a set for my 1911.
A set for a Blackhawk made of a Moose antler shed I found while Deer hunting near Libby MT.. My first try with antler. It is quite dense and works nice. No bark left on them but that`s OK with me.
Next is a set(in progress) for my Ruger Bisley 7 1/2" .45 Colt. Curley maple figure dont realy stand out until the stain or finish goes on. Made from the same piece of wood as the next gun in this post.
This is my Ruger BlackHawk .357/9mm convertible. A sweet little piece. I may actually get around to shooting it in a week or two. (still unfired)
Maybe I will get the hang of making these after a while. For now I am just having fun learning.

Re: Pictures of more pistol grips
What part haven't you figured out yet? They look great! I especially like those antler grips, I prefer the look without the bark.

Re: Pictures of more pistol grips
Gotta ask, how log have you owned the 357/9mm? Need help breaking it in. Sure looks nice. The moose grips are lighter in color than I would have thought.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

3leggedturtle I have had it for about three weeks. Mothers day threw my shooting schedule way off.
I shoot about three times a month but with family here for a week or more and spanning two weekends it messed me up as far as getting to go shoot goes. Hoping for some good weather now.

Astounding and beautiful.
If you lack for something to do the next rainy-day, you can feel free to post a 'tutorial' on how to get started making grips for Bisleys...!

Awesome, as always!
I imagine that 1911 grips will seem like a cake-walk after the other grips you've done!

Wow! Nice grips, I especially like the moose antler. It appears you have mastered the "hang" of grip making!

Looks like you have the finishing nailed down too.
I was going to make a pair out of some nice desert ironwood for my vaquero, but the piece I want to use isn't quite big enough. Have to keep an eye out for a bigger one or look around for something else.

I know I have some holly laying around. When I find it, I'll PM you as I have no use for it.----------6
Re: Pictures of more pistol grips
Nice grips Chuck. Moose antler is the densest north American antler and works very nice. I'm guessing that you used the palm section for the grips. I've been thinking about getting some for my daughter's 1911. Yasabel 1911 grips aren't as easy as they look. If you miss lining up the bushing holes you're toast.

Re: Pictures of more pistol grips
Sixgun I would love to have some Holly to work with. I cut some years ago and dried it for a couple years and after sawing it I found it had spalted and looked very bad. It ended up in the wood stove.
Maybe I can do something for you in trade.
