Remington 11-87

Post by t.r. »

I have a chance to buy a lightly used 11-87 for a good price. Anyone have long term experience (reliability) with this shotgun? I'll use it mostly for sporting clays and occaisonal trap shooting.

I put about 3,000 rds through one with various loads but mostly trap and hunting. It would need to be cleaned at 500 to keep functioning. Usually cleaned much more often. Handled a wide variety of loads easily. The shell catcher didn't always work in trap.

Been using one for 19 years as my go to shotgun. Never a problem in the field or on the range.

When the 11-87 first came out I got one in a skeet version and shot a couple hundred straights on the skeet field with it . I also later got an 11-87 trap version because I wanted the monte carlo stock for skeet as my Krieghoff K-32 also had a monte carlo .

After I was done with trap and skeet I had a couple of the Special Purpose 11-87's for dove hunting and shooting buckshot at deer !

I never had any problems with them and the pair I had for skeet probably had a couple thousand thru both actions . Thru practice and matches it doesn't take long to run them thru the gun .
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

Nance has one, we've put 100s of rounds in a day through it without any issues.
Kind regards,
