For some reason we've never gone dry on primers in Tucson. The shops have put quantity freezes on them, but they're available.

That is true, I was in Tucson a couple weeks ago and was pleased to find large rifle primers. Limit was 500 per customer/day.... in 2008/2009 same shop had a limit also, but I don't remember them running out.

I was in Wisconsin this weekend visiting my parents and stopped into a reloading store. They had small & large pistol and small & large rifle in. I bought 1000 of the small rifle and large pistol. I dont even reload yet. Going to start some time but here soon just stuff has been hard to find.

We stopped there at 10mins to 5:00 on Satruday and they close at 5:00pm. They are closed on Sundays so I called at 11:00am today because I was going to send my dad up for a box of the small pistol and large rifle and they were out. Said internet orders wiped them out. Crazy what is going.

Not to change topics but what presses would recommend? Im looking at the RCBS or Hornady single stage ones.

Just called our main distributer to try and make a component order . Had wants from customers and a few things for us that came to about 65,000 primers and 200+ pounds of powder .

Read off my list to the lady all the powder , primers , clay targets and shot . After I was done she said "we have NO primers or powder and do not know when the trucks will deliver" all they had that I wanted was clay targets and shot !

Did you go to 1st Stop Gunshop too? They always have some real nice stuff there.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

FWIW a 25 pound bag of magnum shot with a slight mark up was about $45 a bag !

I am GLAD I do not shoot the shotgun games like I used to !

When I was doing it 25 years ago I about had a heart attack when the Russins were hoarding lead and made the price go up to $21 a bag !

Before that I'd get it by the ton at about $10-12 a bag !

I've thought of selling some primers, but seeing the lack of comeback so far I think I'll sit on them.

There's a guy on a Brit forum I frequent thats from South Dakota or North Dakota don't remmember which and he "claims" everything will be abck to normal by june !

He claims some place he deals with called "The Trading Post" somewhere in the Dakota's / Anyway the owner of that joint claims he has an order on the way from a distributer for a ton of powder and an undisclosed amount of primers .

Now ALL the distributers I use say they have almost none of the powders or primers normal folks would use .

I cannot imagine these folks using a big distributer that I've not tried and I can't imagine the distributers giving all their inventory to one or two dealers .

So IMHO I would say you are smart to hold onto what you have . There just might not be anymore for a bit longer then we think !
