Yeah, but does anyone really need 1000 rounds of .22s right now for that much? Really?JReed wrote:Supply and demand I guess
I usually have about 10k but the kids were hitting the supply hard so I'm about half of where I should be.
But I'll be danged if I'll spend that much on .22s!!

There were probably several of you that thought I was joking about trading 22lr for primers, the gun shop owner was selling small rifle primers for 45.00 a thousand and we swapped stright across brick for brick.

There must be more to a .22 than I've ever seen.

Maybe there's a new rifle that comes with the ammo purchase?

That CCI mini-mag was $6.99 about 8 months ago. Up to $9.99 now, and that isn't gouged either. Guy is getting 140% return on investment. CCI blazer brick is $25 right now at the same shop when it's available. Is that mini-mag special? Twice the price of blazer even before that auction went nuts.

Part of me is willing to pay more for rimfire ammo because it can't be reloaded (easily).

$241.00 for a 1000 22LRs is sheer idiocy. No way in the world would I ever be slightly tempted to spend that much on so little ammo.

Hey! I think the seller is a bright individual. He is doing what is usually only allowed in the U.S. of A.............capitalizing.
There's no law that says anyone has to buy it at that price. America is great like no other as there is a seat for every azz.

I paid $15.95 for a brick in September & thought it was high.
$120 a brick is not outrageous right now, hereabouts.
I'm tired of seeing current 'net posts about refusing to buy and urging socialism / price restrictions in the ammunition marketplace. If we endorse free markets, we must tolerate occasional, transitory price fluctuation .

Probably real. Recently I've seen the old 550 ct Federal bulk 22 bricks sell for over $125!!! These bricks sold for under $20 at Walmart as recently as just before the election. I remember not buying them then because they had been under $15 not too long before that. It's just plain crazy out there!!!!WCF3030 wrote:That has to be his buddy or something posting that bid....

10 boxes @ $24 each? That's only double the "normal" price! What a deal!

I didn't say anything about the seller. If you can take advantage of the situation then go for it. I made almost $2000 from selling a Mini 14 and associated magazines. This allowed me to add several new guns to my collection.
My point is, this panic buying is out of control and paying these kind of prices for something as common as .22lr's and turning them into unobtainum for no real reason. The EBR run I can understand but .22s, come on!

Hey Pete, for real...think 'about it. Here we are, a bunch of levergunners, all claiming to be right wing conservatives, busting down on people selling their stuff at a huge profit. What's wrong with that? Its why America is the wealthiest nation in the world. Thing that sorta ticks me off is CCI CB Shorts went up to $9-10 per hundred. Guess it time to make up some pellet loads for the 22H and 223.

Re: Seriously? And there's bids on it too!!
A friend in Liberal, Kansas told me that a local shop there is paying almost $30 for a box of 50 rounds, and that is the wholesale price. BTW, my friend is the shop owner's accountant. I don't have the answer, but I will try to find what I can afford and keep myself with enough for a range session with my family. I am a little late to start stocking up, but I might have to.
